Lecturer III in Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Lecturer III.  Responsibilities will include but not be limited to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the broad mechanical engineering area. The expected teaching load for the position is three (3) courses per semester. This load can be reduced by assuming administrative duties such as coordinating the department’s educational accreditation activities or other research work.

Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related field by the start date of the appointment. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in the broad mechanical engineering area and external funding for educational and/or research programs, along with demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success as well as working with broadly diverse communities.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is committed to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate education offering BS (ABET accredited), MS and PhD degree programs. A team of 15 full-time faculty, and several research and part-time faculty, support the activities of close to 500 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students. We support both a strong core of mechanical engineering and interdisciplinary education that include the Space Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and NanoScience and MicroSystems Engineering programs.
