Modern technology provides a better opportunity for people to live easily and conveniently. Using a car is faster than taking a walk or riding a bicycle and tends to be more convenient. People started to change the transport mode from riding a horse to use the train when this modern technology was invented; people change their behaviours to be more...

... the past 25 years the number of cars has increased about ten times greater than before. Table 1 shows a significant increase of motorized vehicles from 1987 to 2010. There should be a significant amount of carbon dioxide released due to the increase of the number of motorized vehicles within this period. ...

... Architectural research in the context of the current ecological, geopolitical, and socioeconomic situation should open new possibilities for coexistence with the surrounding environment on all scales. Today, we can find a direct correlation between the rise of fossil fuel-dependent technology and the degradation of the environment in which humans and non-humans exist (Karyono, 2015). The long-term unsustainability of these sectors results in excessive greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and an increase in the overall harmfulness of our environment, which includes ever-increasing global temperature fluctuations (Eurostat Statistics Explained, 2023). ...
This article investigates the role of architectural research in addressing the current ecological, geopolitical, and socioeconomic challenges by exploring the potential of symbiotic ecosystems, particularly microorganisms such as microalgae, in architectural and design applications. Microalgae biotechnologies have the potential to offer a wide range of applications in architecture and design, encompassing small-scale objects, living systems on building exteriors, as well as urban and rural scenarios, thereby allowing for systematic research. When using these biotechnologies in architectural designs, it is crucial to consider maintenance requirements, environmental impacts, and the potential for enhancing public spaces and society across various dimensions in both short-term and long-term perspectives, and potential environmental impacts before implementing microalgae-based systems in real-life scenarios. This study describes a collection of interdisciplinary projects and research that involve microbiology, architecture, and design and proposes various experimental scenarios concerning the integration of both human and non-human perspectives. Through collaborative academic efforts, these projects demonstrate the potential for combining microalgae cultivation with architectural applications. The projects include Photosynthetic Landscape, a modular photobioreactor system, Synthesizing/Distancing which addresses coexistence in global epidemics, Biotopia, a permanent interior installation incorporating microalgae, Exchange Instruments, a semi-closed cultivation system, and Cultivated Environment, a small-scale microalgae cultivation apparatus. The article highlights the implication of controlled environments, maintenance, and interdisciplinary cooperation while showcasing the potential for these systems.
... For them, technology can help people improve their daily lives, but at the same time, it creates all kinds of climate risks that undermine human existence on Earth. Technology development began at Hicks in 1932 [135]. This vision of technological change is a process induced by a country's economic development factors. ...
... This vision of technological change is a process induced by a country's economic development factors. Solow 1988 [136] emphasized that technology must provide alternatives to the Harrod-Domar model [135]. Clarke 2006 [137] emphasizes that firms' technological development favors the latter. ...
Mining exploitation and its impact on global warming have become significant problems. The main objective of this study is to investigate the impact of mining industry equipment and natural resource demand on global warming in Congo. A cross-sectional survey was conducted from October 2021 to July 2022, using a self-administered questionnaire. The survey was carried out with 1360 respondents from Congo who worked in the mining sector for 18 years and above. For our research, we used the Partial least squares structural equation modeling approach (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software to analyze data. The results show that technological trends are the strongest predictor of global warming in Congo. Equipment was also the most significant predictor of climate change in Congo. Faced with this danger, we are sounding the alarm and asking for urgent intervention from the government. Moreover, all the scientific evidence on this subject is now irrefutable. Even if the climate of Congo may prove less worrying for the moment, the probability that it survives seems very low. However, the Congolese government must take immediate possible precautions to prevent Congo from finding itself in the same challenge currently faced by developed countries.
... It is pointed out that the changes that have already occurred may or may not be reversed. However, some appropriate mitigation strategies such as reducing the use of fossil fuels, development of new technologies (carbon capture, seaweeds cultivation, etc.) that can aid in preventing temperature changes, using alternative energy sources (renewable energy sources, advanced biofuels) and environmental protection policies may slow down climate changes (Masson et al., 2014;Karyono, 2015;Hu et al., 2016;Duarte et al., 2017;Daniel et al., 2021;Milliken et al., 2021;Panoutsou et al., 2021;Troell et al., 2022). The methane emission from enteric fermentation in livestock population can be reduced by providing animals feed additives and supplements (Llonch et al., 2017;Hristov et al., 2022;Kuhla and Viereck, 2022). ...
A nonlinear mathematical model is proposed and analyzed to study the effect of mitigation options on the control of methane emissions in the atmosphere caused by livestock and human populations so as to reduce global warming. Livestock population is one of the main agricultural sources of greenhouse gases in the world. It is assumed that the atmospheric concentration of methane increases in the atmosphere due to cumulative density of methane formed by various processes involved in the farming of livestock populations. Various human activities are also significant contributors to methane emissions. The most notable effects of global warming around the world include the progressive heating of the Earth’s surface, oceans and atmosphere; glacier melting; and various diseases. Mitigation options are applied to control the methane emissions considerably in the atmosphere caused by livestock and human populations which in turn reduces the effects of global warming. The data from model prediction is compared with actual methane data in the atmosphere and found to be fairly close.
Climate change has mounted to the forefront of the world's most critical environmental issues. The countries of every continent are currently affected by climate change. It is hurting lives and destabilizing national economies, costing people, towns, and governments a lot of money today and even more in future. Climate change mitigation entails taking steps to reduce global warming and its consequences. This entails lowering human greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as well as efforts that lower GHG concentrations in the atmosphere. Along with adaptation, it is one of the strategies to respond to climate change. The importance of understanding the risks and vulnerabilities associated with climate change and considerate its effect on both human and natural systems is crucial to comprehend the current climate emergency. Attempting climate change requires accomplishment across society, spanning many approaches, tools, and communities. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in areas such as energy, land use, and disaster response is an example of a tool that offers significant opportunity for climate change mitigation and adaptation. So, it is intended for a mini-review on the importance of AI in developing mitigation strategies against climate change. This book chapter consists of three parts. In the first part, the impacts on climate action will be discussed followed by the second part that gives a description of measures for familiarizing the climate change. Finally, in the third part, the implication of AI to address the climate change will be deliberated and highlighted from several research groups.
