... The taxonomy of Philippine Cerambycidae (or long-horned beetles) has recently gained momentum through the works of both foreign and Philippine taxonomists. Within the last decade, several species of cerambycids have been added to Philippine fauna with the majority of the species from the sub-family Lamiinae (flat-faced long-horned beetles) (Barševskis 2015, Barševskis 2016a, Barševskis 2018, Barševskis et al. 2020a, Barševskis et al 2020b, Barševskis et al 2022, Barševskis & Medina 2021, Barševskis & Medina 2023, Medina et al., 2021a, Medina et al 2021b, Medina et al 2022a, Vitali 2019, Vitali & Medina 2023, Vives 2009, Vives 2012a, Vives 2012b, Vives 2013, Vives 2015. The sub-family Lamiinae constitutes at least 70-75% of Philippine cerambycids (Roguet 2024, Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2023, comprising roughly 1500 described species in the Philippines, and this number is continuously rising as more new species and/or new genera are being added each year. ...

... Since early and up to the present times, the majority of the works on Philippine beetles, particularly on Cerambycidae fauna is, focused mainly on cataloging, providing new faunistic records (e.g., Baer, 1886;Schultze, 1916;Hüdepohl, 1987Hüdepohl, , 1996Medina et al. 2021a) or taxonomy (e.g., Breuning, 1980;Barsevskis, 2014Barsevskis, a,b, 2016Medina et al. 2021b). Since most of the materials used by foreign taxonomists come from local collectors, ecologic data about the species is often missing. ...
Notes on the ecology of Callimetopus lumawigi Breuning, 1980 (Coleoptera: Lamiinae: Pteropliini) in Mindanao, Philippines. Acta Biol. Univ. Daugavp., 22 (1): 91-95. Abstract This paper reports some ecologic observations on Callimetopus lumawigi Breuning, 1980 in the ancestral domain of Ovu-manuvu part of Mount Apo Range in Davao City, Philippines. Data on its population, habitat, food plant, feeding habit, and threats are presented for the first time. This information is essential for developing future strategic conservation initiatives for the species.

The genus Cyriotasiastes (Neman, 1842) is revised using a combination of morphological, biogeographic, and molecular data. Based on this, we proposed to erect the four species belonging to sub-species Cyriotasiastes rhetenor: C.rhetenor
rhetenor, C. rhetenor mindorensis, C. rhetenor panayensis, C. rhetenor solsonanensis, as separate species with the following statuses: Cyriotasiastes rhetenor (Newman, 1842) stat. nov., C. solsonanensis Medina et al., 2023 stat. nov., C. mindorensis Vives, 2009 stat. nov., C.s panayensis Barševskis, 2018 stat. nov. A new species Cyiotasiastes mindanaonis sp. nov. is also described, this is the first record in Mindanao Island and the fifth species for the Philippine fauna. A key
to the species in the Philippines is also provided.
This paper presents the catalog of the genus Plocia Newman 1842 of the Philippines including a description of P. maglanai sp. nov. a new species from Davao De Oro Philippines. This paper describes Paraskeletodes hamiguitanensis sp. nov., the second species of the genus Paraskeletodes Aurivillius 1972 (Coleoptera: Cerambycinae: Phoracanthini) in the world. This rare species was found in Mt. Hamiguitan Range
Wildlife Sanctuary (MHRWS), a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Province of
Davao Oriental, Mindanao Island, Philippines. The discovery of this species
emphasizes the need to strengthen and expand wildlife conservation efforts in Davao Oriental, Philippines.
