... present overview highlights the dilemma’s arising in understanding the time trajectories following internal and external stimuli of the brain. They are not fully comprehensible in terms of classical neurobiology of neuronal communication. In other words: current knowledge of the brain is insufficient to explain higher mental processes such as qualia and consciousness. Our core argument is that the basic constituting elements of the brain, including neurons, neuronal aggregates, molecules and metabolism become only crucial for higher brain functions when considered in the context of a combination of emerging and quantum properties. Hence we propose two super-causal modalities to explain such fast brain processes through super-positional quantum wave transfer and/or immediate protein perturbations, enabling reaction times below the millisecond range. In this framework, we considered two non-classical models that may be operative in these phenomena: the isoenergetic model proposed earlier ( Korf 2010, Fig. 2 ) and a variety of quantum models that also have been dealt with in an earlier report on the “information universe” ( Meijer 2012, and Fig. 6 ). We consider isoenergicity as an emerging property, implying that brain states might change with minimal energy via, for instance, random transitions of molecular configuration. Yet, only when operating in concert, quantum transitions provide useful additional information of the outer world or out of internal biological processes. The model is based on the assumption that there are minimal inter-neuronal energy barriers and that brain metabolism is primarily aimed to guarantee isoenergicity and high potential energy. Such a brain conformation is considered as optimal to translate minor perturbations, including elementary quanta into physiological activity and originates in evolution (see for a more detailed analysis, Korf and Meijer, 2013 ). The quantum models are based on the idea that mental states emerge from elementary quantum transitions and quantum fields. QM theories introduce such counterintuitive phenomena as backward causation and feeling the future, in addition to non-linear information processing. Alternatively, the QM theory of mental processes may be conceived as a metaphor, as an epistemic theory, rather than as an ontological concept (see section 5). In the previous section we concluded that the isoenergetic approach and the quantum mechanical concepts are not mutually exclusive and may in fact exhibit some degree of mutual dependence. Our key notes are: 1) there exist configurations or states of the brain that may be directly associated with mental processes that have a physical and/or wave informational aspect; 2) the two mind theories describing the presumed emergent or backward causative brain configurations, remain to be further developed and/or refined (see supplement); 3) The latter is also related to subjective (intrapersonal and potential transpersonal) experiences and perception of qualia; 4) quantum concepts and models, useful to understand mental processing, apply to the presumed ...

We present a comprehensive concept for the fabric of reality and the creation of life through the generation and integration of information, modelled through toroidal processing of wave energy. We submit that human consciousness cannot be understood in a reductionist context, but that it is rather an expression of a cosmic modality or a universal consciousness. We therefore introduce a mental attribute of the entire cosmos that for our world, requires a wave-like holonomic description, implying non-material physicalism in a cosmopsychism context. It is postulated that the generation of life in the cosmos requires a symmetry breaking from a 4 th spatial dimension (5-D spacetime) involving a Sub-Quantum domain, that contains information conceptualized as a pro-active ontological essence. Thereby, a multi-layered fractal reality is conceived integrated by a universal toroidal/möbius-ring type of connection. This is described at the level of a sub-Planckian scale, and is instrumental in past/future transactional information processing and pilot-wave guiding. In this framework, the Zero-point Energy Field is seen as a transition zone from the Sub-Quantum domain to our quantum world. In concert they provide an all-pervading superfluid quantum field that enables soliton (electron-phonon quasi-particle)-mediated interaction with non-neural brain compartments, in which hydro-ionic (hydronium ions and Ca2+-ions) are instrumental. In this process, freely moving protons form wave-antennas in the water matrices of the brain that can receive active life-information as the building blocks for conscious moments. Toroidal geometry is also involved in the functional organisation of wave-coherence and interference in brain, to assure a personal memory. In addition, we postulate a global memory workspace, associated with, but not reducible to the brain. This field-sensitive holographic workspace, that exhibits an event horizon information projection, is seen to be involved in predictive coding and quality control of awareness and can be conceived as personal double. The imprinting of life conditions in inanimate (pre-biotic) structures in biological evolution is conceived as a toroidal processing of energy-consciousness providing a non-dual recursive creation of reality. The unfolding of pre-mordial information into the future is described in geometric terms and defined in a "Beyond Fibonacci" type of spiral mathematics that also includes an extra 4 th spatial dimension. Recent studies of others indeed have shown that the creation of life can be conceived as a symmetry breaking of condensed bosons from a 5-D informational phase-space, supposedly through formation of magnetic monopoles in a Hicks setting, again using an essential toric information code. The monopoles, produced in this process, interact with DNA/RNA on the basis of the molecular entities of life such as H2O, carbon and nitrogen-bases, and this supports recent work on the role of oscillatory DNA wave resonance in cellular communication, being crucial for problem solving of life cells for survival in their environment. Boson-mediated symmetry breaking, modelled by toroidal spinor geometry was also described in a bifurcative self-interaction model that assumes supervenience of mental on physical states. It is finally concluded that scale invariant information, being expressed on the holographic event horizons of each individual cosmic entity, provides a unified connective principle that reveals an intrinsic mental aspect of the cosmos.

Part 2 of this review article provides a novel conceptual bridge between living and non-living systems, being of relevance for the areas of biophysics, brain research, as well as for mechanisms of biological evolution. As to the latter aspect, the potential role of phyllosilicates (clay materials) in the generation of a primordial biofield is treated and seen as instrumental in a partially guided creation of first life. We hold, in general, that nature is guided by a discrete pattern of harmonic solitonic waves, likely originating from quantum vacuum fluctuations derived from an immanent zero-point energy (ZPE)/superfluid quantum space. Since the whole human organism, including brain is embedded in this dynamic energy field, a comprehensive model for human (self)-consciousness could be conceived. Evidence is presented for a pilot wave guided supervenience of brain function that may arise from a holofractal memory workspace, associated with, but not reducible to the brain, that operates as a scale-invariant mental attribute of reality. This field-receptive, workspace integrates past and (anticipated) future events and may explain overall ultra-rapid brain responses, as well as the origin of qualia as proposed in the so called hard problem of consciousness studies.

This review article submits an integral concept of information processing in the universe on the basis of a generalized musical (GM)-scale of discrete EMF frequencies. Meta-analyses of current biophyisical literature revealed the effects of similar EMF frequency patterns in a wide range of animate and non-animate systems. A nonlinear Schrödinger equation describes the quantum aspects of the transfer of wave information mediated by H+ and Ca2+ ion flux over long distances at cerebrospinal, inter-neuronal and gap junction spaces. The latter processes enable ultra-rapid soliton/biophoton fluxes that may orchestrate overall brain binding and the creation of coherent conscious states. In a cosmological context, we envision a scale invariant information processing, operating through a toroidal/wormhole mediated information flux. Our concept touches upon the earlier postulated hard problem in consciousness studies. This implies an intrinsic cosmic connectivity that is mirrored in the human brain. The assumed hydrodynamic superfluid background field is proposed to guide the ongoing fabric of reality through a quantum metalanguage that is instrumental in the manifestation of universal consciousness of which human consciousness is an integral part. 2

Individual consciousness is considered as an expression of an underlying, non-local, quantum field, that exhibits holographic properties. This paper pays special attention to the interfacing of this field of universal consciousness and our personal brain in relation to potential afterlife. We postulate a toroidal event horizon workspace of the brain that allows symmetric 4-D to 3-D quantum information flux and holographic 2-D personal memory integration. The geometry of a 3-D brain being embedded in a 4-D realm may explain the phenomena of functional brain binding, qualia, intuition, serendipity, synchronicity, extra-sensory perception, and well-established Psi-phenomena. Brain function is conceptualized as guided by zero-point energy field (ZPE) derived pilot waves that support consciousness also in the absence of neuronal activity, such as in near death experiences (NDE). Its toroidal organization exhibits quaternionic dynamics and thereby allows an opening to 4-D geometry and thus to universal consciousness and ZPE. This personal holographic workspace, that is associated but not reducible to the brain, collects active information in a 2-D "brain event horizon", an internal and fully integral model of the self. At death of the material body, this personal knowledge mental domain uncouples from the body, yet it is conserved because quantum information can never be destroyed. In NDE this uncoupling is only temporal but reveals universal consciousness in a fully transparent manner, since in this condition non-neuronal information processing is maintained by fractal semi-harmonic frequencies from ZPE that reflect an entangled personal register of each conscious being. The proposed concept, therefore contradicts the tentative, promissory materialist solution to the mind-body problem. Instead, it substantiates the notion that brain can act as a kind of 'receiver' by filtering of (sub)conscious states, through holographic resonance of universal consciousness with specific coherent oscillation domains in the body. Yet, it is recognized that our self-consciousness can also act as a damping filter for information from this universal knowledge field. The latter aspect of a " dual filter theory" is apparently removed at states of modified brain function such as NDE, deep meditation and use of psycho-mimetic drugs, that expose us to an unknown cosmic perspective. The presence of a mental field-receptive resonant workspace, might be termed our "supervening double", (or "soul", not implying religious doctrine), and provides an interpretation framework for widely reported, but poorly understood transpersonal conscious states. It even implies that death should not be seen as a transition to another state of existence, but rather that all of us are already belong to such an eternal domain in our present life. Consciousness cannot be articulated. In the unconditional state it is inexpressible. However, this Transcendental Reality could be naturalized internally by the human brain, which has been evolutionarily primed to do this. On the other side, externally, this has been a spontaneous happening in nature. Two pathways meet, although over a long time gap, at the sensory apparatus as “perception” of the experience of the Objective Reality (OR). This paper describes the steps in this process with involvement of four primary operations. From ontological point of view the author identifies the operators as consciousness, self, life, mind and information working together with the brain and shows that they form an orchestra which has been traditionally called psyche, which acts as inter-phase between brain-bound and brain-independent consciousness. From epistemological point of view the operations, labeled bottom up as operation I, II, III and IV which although occur in both inside the brain and in the external world, get more emphasis in the description of happenings in the external world. They seem to form a systems of orchestrated communication of the Objective Reality in a non-reductive way to the senses as signal. Our brain is not a "stand alone" information processing organ: it acts as a central part of our integral nervous system with recurrent information exchange with the entire organism and the cosmos. In this study, the brain is conceived to be embedded in a holographic structured field that interacts with resonant sensitive structures in the various cell types in our body. In order to explain earlier reported ultra-rapid brain responses and effective operation of the meta-stable neural system, a field-receptive mental workspace is proposed to be communicating with the brain. Our integral nervous system is seen as a dedicated neural transmission and multi-cavity network that, in a non-dual manner, interacts with the proposed supervening meta-cognitive domain. Among others, it is integrating discrete patterns of eigen-frequencies of photonic/solitonic waves, thereby continuously updating a time-symmetric global memory space of the individual. Its toroidal organization allows the coupling of gravitational, dark energy, zero-point energy field (ZPE) as well as earth magnetic fields energies and transmits wave information into brain tissue, that thereby is instrumental in high speed conscious and subconscious information processing. We propose that the supposed field-receptive workspace, in a mutual interaction with the whole nervous system, generates self-consciousness and is conceived as operating from a 4 th spatial dimension (hyper-sphere). Its functional structure is adequately defined by the geometry of the torus, that is envisioned as a basic unit (operator) of space-time. The latter is instrumental in collecting the pattern of discrete soliton frequencies that provided an algorithm for coherent life processes, as earlier identified by us. It is postulated that consciousness in the entire universe arises through, scale invariant, nested toroidal coupling of various energy fields, that may include quantum error correction. In the brain of the human species, this takes the form of the proposed holographic workspace, that collects active information in a "brain event horizon", representing an internal and fully integral model of the self. This brain-supervening workspace is equipped to convert integrated coherent wave energies into attractor type/standing waves that guide the related cortical template to a higher coordination of reflection and action as well as network synchronicity, as required for conscious states. In relation to its scale-invariant global character, we find support for a universal information matrix, that was extensively described earlier, as a supposed implicate order as well as in a spectrum of space-time theories in current physics. The presence of a field-receptive resonant workspace, associated with, but not reducible to, our brain, may provide an interpretation framework for widely reported, but poorly understood transpersonal conscious states and algorithmic origin of life. It also points out the deep connection of mankind with the cosmos and our major responsibility for the future of our planet.

Recently, a novel biological principle, revealing specific electromagnetic (EM) radiation frequencies that sustain life, was presented by us on the basis of an evaluation of 175 biological articles concerning beneficial effects of electromagnetic waves on the state of living cells. This concept was also based on a very similar range of frequencies emitted by a clay-mineral catalyst of RNA synthesis that may have been instrumental in the evolutionary initiation of first life, and therefore was tentatively designated as “Algorithm of Life”. The particular spectrum of frequency bands indicate that nature seems to employ discrete eigenfrequencies or standing waves that match precisely with an acoustic scale, with frequency ratios of 1:2, and closely approximated by 2:3, 3:4, 3:5, 4:5 and higher partials, allowing the discrete frequencies to be expressed in scalars. Our further studies clearly indicate now that this “life algorithm” pattern matches very well with the mathematical calculations of W. Ritz (1909) to compute eigenfrequencies of the sound induced geometric patterns. These have been earlier demonstrated through membrane vibration experiments of E. Chladni (1787), as well as several follow up studies from 1970-2013. Our findings, therefore, touch upon the science of acoustics, also since we show that the discrete frequencies could be modeled by music torus geometry. We postulate that the spectrum of EM frequencies detected, exhibit a quantum ordering effect on life cells on the basis of induction of geometric wave patterns. These constitute phonon/photon and electron wave energies, and quantum oscillations at far-infrared frequencies, that are communicated through toroidal constructive interference into scalar wave information. This idea is supported through our identification of potential intrinsic toroidal eigenfrequencies and minimal energy levels. The particular torus topology for information processing may also provide quantum error correction and protection against decoherence. Finally, we propose a phonon guided organization of cells and integral brain function by three elementary processes: 1) A phonon mediated geometric organization of coherent arrangement of water molecules in cellular plasma, leading to instructive functional organization of cellular structures and metabolic processes and enabling the origination and sustainment of life processes. 2) Toroidal phonon/photon/electron coupling, protecting standing wave coherency of resonant cell components such as proteins and DNA. 3) A toroidal integration of electromagnetic and phononic fluxes of information into scalar standing waves, promoting quantum flux of informational excitons such as Ca2+- ions and electrons (polaron and polariton formation). Our brain, therefore, can be placed in a 4+1 geometry, supported by internal and external quantum states and makes use of geometrical defined information fluxes, that are converted to standing waves. Beeldvorming en informatieverwerking in de cultuur: het memen concept Onze wereld, zoals die zich aan ons voordoet, bestaat uit materie (in al haar gedaanten), energie (in al haar vormen) en informatie (in al haar varianten) (zie ref. 3-10). In de biologische en culturele evolutie, met een steeds toenemende complexiteit, is informatie een zeer centraal aspect. Informatie kan op verschillende wijzen en op heel verschillende niveaus worden overgedragen (1). In de levende cel zijn dat chemische en elektrische signalen, maar ook specifieke ruimtelijke vormen (eiwitten) en specifieke volgorden van de bouwstenen, bijvoorbeeld die in de opbouw van DNA en dus in de genen (2). Op het niveau van menselijke communicatie zijn dat golf-en trillingspatronen (licht en geluid) of elektromagnetische golven (radio, telefoon, tv, en bijvoorbeeld kosmische achtergrondstraling), (Fig.1). To better understand this quantum like behavior of the human brain, many new classifications such as quantum cognition, quantum consciousness and even quantum aesthetics have been developed to better develop a framework of understanding the quantum state. How a mental model is developed to understand a quantum state whereby super-causal mechanisms are able to integrate the many facets of the human brain leading to transposing those mechanisms into a quantum computer is now under investigation (Meijer and Korf, 2013). Qualia are private conscious experiences of which the associated feelings can be reported to other people. Whether qualia are amenable to scientific exploration has often been questioned, which is challenged by the present article.
