Mapping detailed wetland types can offer useful information for wetland management and protection, which can strongly support the Global Biodiversity Framework. Many studies have conducted wetland classification at regional, national, and global scale, whereas fine-resolution wetland mapping with detailed wetland types is still challenging. To address this issue, we developed an integration of pixel- and object-based algorithms with knowledge (POK) by combining pixel-based random forest and an object-based hierarchical decision tree. Taking the Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone (GBGEZ) and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) as our study areas, we produced wetland maps with 10 wetland types and 6 non-wetland types using Landsat-8 time series. In addition, to comprehensively evaluate the accuracy of our wetland classification, we implemented accuracy validation based on test samples and data inter-comparison based on existing datasets, respectively. The results indicate that the overall accuracy of our wetland map was 91.6% ±1.2%. For wetland types, agricultural pond, coastal shallow water, floodplain, mangrove, reservoir, river, and tidal flat achieved good accuracies, with both user accuracy and producer accuracy exceeding 88.0%. For non-wetland types, most accuracies were greater than 72.0%. By comparison with existing datasets, it was found that our wetland map had good consistencies with the China Ecosystem-type Classification Dataset (CECD) land use dataset, MC_LASAC mangrove dataset, and Tidal Wetlands in East Asia (TWEA) tidal flat dataset. In 2020, the wetland area was 4,198.8 km² in the GBGEZ and 10,932.2 km² in the GBA. The main wetland types in the two coastal urban agglomerations were agricultural ponds, coastal shallow waters, mangroves, reservoirs, rivers, and tidal flats. Our study successfully mapped detailed wetland types in the GBGEZ and GBA, serving the Global Biodiversity Framework of Convention on Biological Diversity.

The scenic byways in Western Sichuan are some of the most popular self-driving tourism destinations in China. However, the current network of scenic byways in the region is not well-coordinated with the level of regional tourism development. This paper, based on travel digital footprints, uses methods such as spatial design network analysis, GIS spatial analysis, social network analysis models, and spatial econometric models to analyze the accessibility and self-driving tourism spatial behavior characteristics in Western Sichuan. The main research results are as follows: (1) the accessibility level of scenic byways in Western Sichuan exhibits significant spatial variation, with the majority of areas demonstrating moderate to poor accessibility; (2) the network structure of self-driving tourism spatial behavior displays characteristics of low overall network density, but with a high clustering coefficient and relatively short average path length, indicating a significant small-world phenomenon. All network node indicators exhibit significant heterogeneity, with the core nodes displaying clear clustering characteristics; (3) the accessibility of scenic byways and self-driving tourism spatial behavior exhibit significant spatial spillover effects. This study analyzes the relationship between the accessibility of scenic byways and self-driving tourism spatial behavior in Western Sichuan, providing valuable insights for the planning and construction of scenic byways and the development of self-driving tour routes.

Exploring the spatial heterogeneity of urban multi-dimensional networks and influencing factors are of great significance for the integrated development of metropolitan circle. This study took Hangzhou metropolitan circle as an example, using multi-source geospatial big data to obtain urban population, transportation, goods, capital, and information flow information among sub-cities. Then, spatial visualization analysis, social network analysis, and geographical detector were applied to analyze the differences in spatial structure of multiple urban networks and influencing factors in Hangzhou metropolitan circle, respectively. The results showed that (1) the network connections of population, traffic, goods, and capital flows transcended geographical proximity except that of information flow, and population and traffic flow networks were found to be more flattened in Hangzhou metropolitan circle than in other urban networks; (2) the comprehensive urban network of Hangzhou metropolitan circle was imbalanced across sub-cities, presenting hierarchical and unipolar characteristics; and (3) the influence of traffic distance on the network spatial structure of Hangzhou metropolitan was stronger than the geographical distance, and the interactions between traffic distance and socioeconomic factors would further enhance the regional differentiation of the network spatial structure. This study could provide scientific reference for constructing a coordinated and integrated development pattern in a metropolitan circle.

Spatial accessibility is an essential manifestation of social equity and spatial planning. However, when examining spatial accessibility, systematic review studies dominate the literature, with fewer studies employing evaluative and relational bibliometric approaches. Thus, to provide a comprehensive overview of spatial accessibility research from 1999 to 2022, the works of literature referenced and analyzed by the Web of Science during 1999–2022 were analyzed: bibliometrics and scientific mapping methods using R software, the biblioshiny web program, tidyverse (ggplot2), and VOSviewer. The analysis results indicate a significant increase in the number of research papers addressing spatial accessibility throughout the research period accompanied by a continuous expansion of the research area. Collaboration and research endeavors among countries in this domain have deepened, leading to a continual improvement in the quality of papers. In addition, influential journals, authors, and articles in the field of spatial accessibility were also counted. New data, methods, and technology will become substantially more critical in accessibility research.

In the process of globalization, the transformation of production methods has triggered a restructuring of scales, resulting in the emergence of a new spatial phenomenon known as cross-border regions. Previous studies have focused on the coordination of cross-border regions, often concentrating solely on either spatial or governance aspects, and lacking a comprehensive exploration of the underlying mechanisms linking space and governance. This study examines the evolution of cross-border governance using the Tokyo Bay Area as a case study, taking into account the dual characteristics of space and governance. The findings of this research indicate a certain correlation between spatial evolution and governance mechanisms during different stages of development in the Tokyo Bay Area. Over time, the spatial configuration of the port cluster has undergone significant changes, while the governance mechanisms of the cross-border region have transitioned from informal to formal approaches. Additionally, the study summarizes both diachronic and synchronic characteristics, confirming the effectiveness of the space governance and providing an analysis of its underlying mechanisms. These findings provide valuable insights for promoting the modernization of national governance systems and governance capabilities.

The concentration of heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr, Co, and Ni) from 421 sediment samples from the shelf of the northern margin of the South China Sea (SNSCS) was analyzed. The heavy metal content and calculated potential ecological indicators (E r i < 40 and RI < 160) indicate that there is low potential ecological risk of heavy metal pollution in the SNSCS. The mean effects range-median quotient (M-ERM-Q) and hazard quotient (HQ) values of sediment toxicological characteristics indicate that heavy metals are a potential toxicological risk. The high-risk area is mainly distributed in the southwest of the nearshore SNSCS. The positive matrix factorization (PMF) analysis results showed that major contributors to heavy metal pollution were natural sources and anthropogenic activities in the SNSCS. The government should pay particular attention to the monitoring of heavy metals in the nearshore southwest of the SNSCS.

The economic linkages between cities within the Yangtze River Economic Belt city cluster are important for precisely implementing the Yangtze River Economic Belt strategy. Accordingly, this study used the revised gravity model, social network method, and spatial Durbin model to analyze the economic linkage strength, spatial-temporal differentiation, and driving factors of the three major city cluster in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2006–2020. The results confirm that the Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration has formed a network structure with Chengdu and Chongqing as the two poles; the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River has formed a point-axis development pattern of Wuhan, Changsha and Nanchang. The Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration formed a multi-center radiation and sub-network development pattern. Additionally, the characteristics of network structure significantly affected the flow of factors, the level of economic development was the basis for strengthening communication and cooperation between cities. Meanwhile, the advanced industrial structures played an important role in promoting industrial linkages, and human capital exerts an obvious spatial spillover effect. Therefore, these three major urban agglomerations should implement differentiated development strategies and enhance the synergy of their linkage networks, thus promoting high-quality development.

Highways are the main components of modern transportation hubs, where lots of pavement anomalies have been still occurring with the increasing of the traffic volume and overloading, especially for the coastal developed areas. Rapid nondestructive detection is a necessary means to ensure uninterrupted highway traffic in the road operation period. In this paper, MALA Ground-penetrating Radar is used for detecting the coastal highway pavement anomalies, while the radar signal interpretation is vulnerable to environmental influences and relies too much on experience judgments from engineers. In order to improve the interpretation accuracy, the continuous wavelet transforms are introduced for analyzing multiscale characteristics of the radar signals. Parametric and non-parametric test methods are combined to validate the availability of the processed signals with Reflexw and denoised signals with continuous wavelet transforms. The results show that major pavement anomalies are basically consistent with the radar detection and field survey. These qualitative and quantitative methods for revealing the central location of pavement anomalies, especially for depth, is of importance to assist engineers with reasonable interpretation. Moreover, the accuracy of pavement anomalies determining can be improved from decimeter to millimeter magnitude. Meanwhile, a comprehensive and intuitive interpretation method is provided for engineers combining with one-dimensional and two-dimensional analysis.
