... Increasing grouper culture is a realistic thing to be conducted. This is because the technology for grouper culture is already known and applied in Indonesia (Khasanah et al., 2020;Astari et al., 2023). Neighboring areas of Tuban such as Gresik and Lamongan have intensively cultivated grouper (Syahlizawati et al., 2022;Lastianto et al., 2023). ...
Highlight Research Tuban (Indonesia) aquaculture commodities are surveyed. Aquaculture diversity in Tuban are consisted of 5 fields, namely rice field ponds, floating net cages, freshwater ponds, and brackish aquaculture ponds Aquaculture commodities in Tuban consist of 11 families and 14 species of the main aquatic production. Cyprinus carpio or common carp is one of the commodities cultivated in four different aquacultures. Abstract Fishery is a sector expected to overcome the food crisis. Indonesia is one of the leading countries in high volumes of fishery production in most of its areas, including the Regency of Tuban in East Java Province. The area of Tuban Regency is 1,839.94 km2 with the coastline covers 65 km and a sea area of 22,608 km2. This study aims to provide information regarding aquaculture production, diversity, and distribution in Tuban. This study used a survey method in collecting fishery commodity data directly from aquaculture areas. The results of this study showed that the highest production came from the brackish water with a value of 32.46% (13,561.79 tons), followed by rice field pond (27.79% or 11,612.45 tons), freshwater pond (25.76% or 10,764.62 tons), floating net cage (13.97% or 5,836.59 tons), and marine (0.1% or 5.67 tons). Aquaculture biodiversity in Tuban consisted of 11 families and 14 species of the main aquatic produces, such as Cyprinidae (Cyprinus carpio, Barbonymus gonionotus, Parastromateus niger), Clariidae (Clarias bathracus), Pangasiidae (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus), Penaeidae (Penaeus monodon, Litopenaeus vannamei), Channidae (Channa striata), Cichlidae (Oreochromis niloticus, Oreochromis mosammbicus), Osphronemidae (Osphronemus gourami), Serranidae (Epinephelus), Lutjanidae (Lutjanus), and Chanidae (Chanos chanos). Cyprinus carpio or common carp is fish cultivated in four different aquacultures, namely rice field pond, floating net cages, freshwater ponds, and brackish aquaculture ponds. Unfortunately, the diversity and production of marine aquaculture has not been improved even though Tuban has large marine areas.

Important factors in grouper mariculture are continuous availability of seeds. Purpose of this research was to analyse production performance and financial analysis of three segments that support production of cantang hybrid grouper (macan/tiger, Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × kertang/giant, Epinephelus lanceolatus ) and cantik hybrid grouper (macan/tiger, Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × batik/camouflage, Epinephelus microdon ). Research was conducted for one year in 2022 three businesses, namely egg production, small-scale hatchery and nursery businesses. Egg production in a year for cantang hybrid grouper 97,300,000 eggs and cantik hybrid gouper of 17,800,000 eggs. Small-scale hatchery were harvested with average total length of ± 3.0 cm with SR 2.1–15.7% for cantang and 4.3–18.2% for cantik. Nursery were harvested with average total length of cantang seeds was 10.9 ± 0.3 cm with SR of 60.2–84.5% and seeds was 10.1 ± 0.3 cm with SR of 74.9–91.8%. Egg production obtained profit IDR 444,144,168/year, R/C ratio 1.67, and payback period 1.16 year. Egg production business in 5 years obtained NPV IDR 834,544,410, net B/C 2.63, and IRR 78.90%. Small-scale hatchery business profit IDR 414,508,032/year, R/C ratio 1.94, and payback period 1.40 year with NPV IDR 783,041,394, net B/C 2.35, and IRR 65.10%. Nursery business profit IDR 524,700,000/year, R/C ratio 1.73, and payback period 1.17 year with NPV IDR 1,097,840,171, net B/C 2.78, and IRR 79.30%. Sensitivity analysis shows that increases and decreases that occur in amount of production and selling prices have significant effect on NPV value. In addition, increase in profitability performance is associated with decrease in broodstock, eggs, seeds, feeds, or labor costs.

Efforts are paid to increase production to meet the high demands in the growing aquaculture sector, which is included in agricultural activities. Here, wastewater from aquaculture production contains pollutants. Fish feces and pollutants formed by unconsumed feeds, that constitute the majority of the wastewater, cause an increase in the amount of suspended solids, nitrogenous wastes and phosphorus in the water. Conventional wastewater treatment is often used in aquaculture systems. However, sustainable solutions are needed for the protection of aquatic ecosystems and the reuse of water resources. The bioremediation method includes the removal, reduction and conversion of contaminated compounds by initiating the biological process. In this review, bioremediation methods that can be used in aquaculture, water quality management, treatment of waste and sludge originating from aquaculture systems are discussed. In addition, the importance of bioremediation in terms of sustainability in aquaculture and managing environmental effects was evaluated.
Management evaluation is essential to optimize finances by increasing egg production, survival rates, larval rearing, and nursery growth. Research aims to analyze production and financial performance in sustainable practices for producing hybrid grouper seeds such as cantang and cantik. The research was carried out for one year, from September 2022 to September 2023. Survey method with the selection of research locations carried out purposively utilized both primary and secondary data types. Primary data was collected through surveys using questionnaires, interviews, and direct observation of activities. Direct observations were conducted at egg production, hatchery, and nursery activities. Research shows that in one year the egg production is 97,300,000 cantang eggs and 17,800,000 cantik eggs. The final length mean harvested in the hatchery was 3.5 ± 0.28 cm with a survival rate of 8.3 ± 4.9 % for cantang hybrid grouper and 3.2 ± 0.25 cm with a survival rate of 10.1 ± 5.0 % for cantik hybrid grouper. The total length of the nursery harvested was 10.9 ± 0.30 cm with a survival rate of 71.5 ± 8.7 % for cantang hybrid grouper, and cantik hybrid grouper measured 10.1 ± 0.30 cm with a survival rate of 81.0±6.0 %. The highest net profit comes from nurseries, followed by larval rearing and egg production. Investments in egg production, larval rearing, and nursery businesses are financially advantageous, as both the R/C and B/C ratios > 1, demonstrating their economic viability. The increasing demand for hatcheries and seeds highlights the importance of successful egg production in fulfilling the growing needs of grouper hatcheries. Nursery operations play a crucial role in enhancing the success of grouper grow-out by improving survival rates and reducing rearing times. They focus on nurturing seeds from their early stages until they reach a suitable size and strength for the grow-out phase.
Business will be sustainable if there is a synergistic interaction among the economy’s production, economic, environmental, and social sectors. This research aims to assess the sustainability status of a hybrid grouper nursery in Situbondo, East Java. Sustainability consists of human resources, production, market, economy, technology, and institutional aspects. Multidimensional scaling (MDS) and leverage analysis were done on the data using the RAPFISH software. The average index obtained by all hybrid grouper nurseries with very sustainable status was obtained in the economic aspect with an average value of 83.05, and less sustainable status was obtained in the technological aspect at 49.71. Hybrid grouper nurseries obtained an average index ranging from 50.01 to 66.41 with a fairly sustainable status. Sixteen sensitive factors influence the sustainability index of hybrid grouper nurseries. These factors include health, social relationships between members, coaching and training, availability of transportation, road conditions, survival rate, seed prices, and technology availability. Apart from that, there are payment systems between group businesses, group help, exchange systems between businesses, profit-sharing systems between businesses, personal help, counseling, training, and sources of capital.
