The grain size of a porphyritic charge of type IA/IAB composition depends to a large extent on the grain size of the starting material, except when maximum temperatures approach the liquidus (Hewins & Fox 2004). Heated for 1 min at peak temperature at IW-0.5 and cooled at an average of 800oC/hr.
