... Delivering a sustainable megaproject is a challenging complex issue with various difficulties in effectiveness and interaction mechanisms. Besides, managing all participants in megaprojects in terms of their contributions and interests requires an inclusive participative planning approach [55]. Environmental concerns have become one of the main factors influencing the capacity, performance, and impact of megaprojects in urban settings, highlighting the importance of fostering sustainability in cities and regions in megaprojects even though urban leaders face pressures from investors [56]. ...

Megaprojects with high levels of complexity and innovation face many sustainability challenges, including environmental concerns, economic resources, and social impacts over decades. Due to the large scale of these projects and their significant consequences for the communities, scientific production focusing on different aspects of megaprojects has been increasingly developed. This research aims to first, present a general overview of the main research themes and hotspots within the literature on megaprojects, and second, provide the potential of the circular economy (CE) in supporting the megaprojects. To do so, a systematic review using keyword co-occurrence analysis was conducted on the megaproject scientific production. The results revealed five major research themes in megaproject-related research, including (i) construction and built environment, (ii) mega events and urban environment, (iii) risk management, (iv) project management, and (v) sustainability and governance. Moreover, challenges and prospects of incorporating the CE in megaprojects were provided and discussed. The findings shed light on the body of knowledge of megaproject research and can support policymakers, officials, and practitioners involved in the megaprojects toward the CE transition.KeywordsMega-projectBuilt environmentUrban environmentChange of approachChange of paradigmStakeholder engagementEnd of life

Comparative historical analysis will trace the foreign policy orientation of Xi Jinping: the orientation that, by the nature of things, must be different from that of his predecessors, Hu Jintao and Jiang Zemin. Xi's ideological motivations and strategic objectives will be analyzed qualitatively using a systematic review of scholarly articles and policy documents. It describes the shift from a narrative of peaceful rise to a more assertive foreign policy that aims to change the international order according to the vision of realizing national rejuvenation in China. The focus is on two critical components of Xi's policy: the soft power, on the one hand, and military modernization, on the other. Together, they reflect his dual playing of economic cooperation and territorial aspirations. This paper also explores how evolving domestic politics and the increasing competition between the United States and China shape the impact of China's soft power campaigns and its broader security strategies in the region. Findings indicate that under Xi, centralized decision-making and assertive diplomacy are redefining China's role in global governance and transforming international relations in the fast-changing multipolar world. These policies are compared with those of previous leaders to bring forth valuable insights into the dynamic change experienced by the foreign policy of China and its consequences on the international political configurations. Sudan is one of the third largest countries in Africa. It is located in Northeast Africa and the Middle East. It is a developing country with a young population. Sudan’s economy mainly depends on agriculture, animal and mineral resources. Historically, at the time of independence from the Anglo-Egyptian colonization, the higher education system had two universities, five colleges, and three institutes—all centered in Khartoum state. Currently, due to the development efforts, there are more than 146 institutions distributed overall in Sudan. However, the agricultural investments and the industrial development in Sudan played the leading role in textile education. This chapter reviewed the past, present, and prospects of Sudanese higher education for textiles and fashion. In the first part, cotton production is introduced. Then an extensive review includes overarching features related to the planning and management of the textiles and fashion education have been reported. It has been found that two departments are offering a Bachelor of Science in textiles science and engineering. At the same time, there are two departments offering a Bachelor of Arts in textile design and textile coloration as well as fashion design. On the other hand, the University of Gezira is also teaching cotton classification and cotton ginning courses to provide a full spectrum of textile knowledge from the field to the consumers. It is worth mentioning here that, the curricula of textile education in Sudan mainly depend on the cotton spinning system. The woolen and worsted spinning systems are taken as introductory topics. Indeed, the textiles and fashion education in Sudan are required to establish benchmark data to identify the courses for higher education institutions and provide industrial information for policymakers and enterprises’ investments. Furthermore, the prospects and the conclusions have provided a brief overview of the state of the art.KeywordsEast AfricaSudanCottonHigher educationTextileFashion designHigher Education Institutions (HEI)

A lot has been written on higher education but its diffusion into specific sector such as textile and fashion are scanty. The objective of the chapter was to have a theoretical reflection on the impact of higher education on textile and fashion in contributing knowledge and trigger further discourse among academia, professionals and policy makers. Even though textile and fashion sector in Kenya is as old as country called Kenya it has moved back and forth as the years goes by and currently still at nursing stage which requires government intervention to provide sustainable trade incentives, lower taxes and energy costs to manufacturers and other players in the textile value chain. In addition, prioritize provision of adequate research funds and institutional capacity building for universities that offer textile, apparel and fashion programs.KeywordsTextileFashionHigher educationCapacity building
