Energy storage serves the dual purpose of narrowing the disparity between energy provision and consumption while also enhancing the efficiency and dependability of energy generation systems, thereby assuming a crucial position in energy storage. This technology reduces expenses by gathering and using wasted energy. Thermal energy storage using phase transition materials is a highly regarded technology in thermal energy storage. Studying energy storage tanks that incorporate phase transition material is a novel area of research in the energy world. Sodium nitrate is the PCM material employed in this study. This discussion focuses on the influence of the alumina percentage and tank dimensions on the behavior of molten sodium nitrate over time. This analysis incorporates the influence of the diameter-to-length ratio based on the Grashof number. Consequently, ten different dimensional states of the tank are taken into account. This study discusses the findings from analyzing energy storage tanks incorporating phase change material using Ansys Fluent software. To achieve this objective, the initial step involves presenting the ratio between the required dimensions and the Gershoff numbers acquired for various diameters. Subsequently, the mesh convergence process and the solution's independence from the grid are explained. Subsequently, he showstate d the outlines of the aqueous portion and the temperature derived from the study, culminating in presenting the findings. The temperature distribution inside the tank becomes increasingly homogeneous by augmenting the proportion of alumina included in sodium nitrate. The addition of alumina particles to sodium nitrate has a diminishing impact as the height-to-diameter ratio of the tank is reduced. As the tank transitions from state 1 to state 7, whose diameter and height are identical, the curvature of the temperature change graphs diminishes. This drop signifies a reduction in the rate at which the phase-change material melts.

Solar energy is harnessed to heat the air, which is then utilised for warming greenhouses and drying crops. Solar air heaters may readily increase their performance using an absorbent plate design with a front pass of steel wools. This kind of SAH has been investigated and compared to a conventional flat absorbent plate. Steel wool, a cost-effective and permeable substance, possesses excellent heat conductivity, and it can be utilised in ongoing initiatives to enhance convection and thermal efficiency. The analysis in this research is based on data from experiments, focusing on the single-pass SAH technique and considering two scenarios: traditional system and porous system, with air mass flow rates of 0.015 Kg/s and 0.035 Kg/s. The experimental findings show that employing porous materials increases the exhaust temp by 12.28% and 21.32 % form of air 0.015 and 0.035 Kg/s, respectively. Moreover, the solar radiation readings for non-porous and porous medium SAHs were recorded as 905.32-912.92 and 979.04-945.6 W/m2, respectively, at 1:30 p.m. Furthermore, thermal efficiency is between 33.29 % and 64.36 % in the porous scenarios and between 30.12% and 57.36% for non-porous cases. Porous media increases the thermal efficiency by 10 % and mass flow rate by 14 %.

Finned-tube heat exchangers with low weight and good thermal characteristics are required to meet new heat transfer issues and rising application demand. Fins increase the flow mixture, lower the recirculating zone, and distribute heat to the environment to preserve system thermal efficiency. This research explores thermo-hydraulic characteristics, weight reduction, and performance parameter for 17 examples with 0.5 mm needle fin thickness with 10 mm altitude and diverse forms, including six angles (80°, 70°, 60°, 50°, 40°, and 30°) and three vertices (6, 8, and 10 Each is compared to equal-sized circular fins. SOLID WORK 2021 generated 3D geometry and heat exchanger weight reduction values. At 4,300 Reynold number, ANSYS FLUENT 2020 R2 estimated heat transfer effect of each air-water heat exchanger form. All needle fins outperformed solid fins in heat transfer. By decreasing the number of vertices (N) and their angles (Ɵ), thermal characteristics have improved. For instance, lowering (N) from 10 to 6 and (Ɵ) from 80° to 30° leads to increased Nusselt number (Nu) by 40.76% -154.78%, 26.27% -76.29%, 29.24% -202.37%, and heat flow rate per unit area (Q/m^2) by 26%-76%, 25%-62%, and 14.33-49% Heat exchangers using proposed needle designs saved 37% in weight (w) and 37%-15%, 12%-15%, and 9%-10% in friction factor (f) for 80°-30°.

This paper presents an empirical investigation of the melting processes of phase change material (PCM) in a tube and shell heating exchanger utilizing solar thermal energy. The experiments were conducted outdoors in Al-Mussaib city, Babylon, Iraq (Lat 32.5° North, long 44.3° East), utilizing a north-south (N-S) collector oriented at a tilt angle of 32.5° from the horizontal. This work utilized pure Iraqi black paraffin with 12 kg as PCM. The main empirical rig involves a vacuum tube solar collector (VTSC) utilizing a tube and shell heating exchanger to melt PCM in the shell regime. Different rates of water flow inside the internal heating exchanger's tube, namely (3.5, 5, and 8.5 L/m), were utilized for each season from August 2022 to January 2023. The empirical findings concluded that the internal tube inlet and surrounding temps significantly influence the melting process compared to the rates of water flow. It was found that the melting process of PCM needs about (3 to 4) hours in the summer season. Still, winter needs a longer time, about 14 to 16 hours. Increasing surrounding temp and solar radiation reduces the melting time of phase-change material. The findings of the present work were compared with the earlier investigations and agree with increasing the present work by 23.5 %. The findings from the present study are of practical importance for industries requiring storage materials to improve thermal storage system performance.

One of the effects of vibrations resulting from the flow of fluids is the failure that occurs to the structure of the systems, which in turn affects the efficiency of the parts that make up those systems. for the purpose of studying the possibility of improving the performance of the systems, a liquid other than water and coolant (super antifriz\petrol ofisi) was chosen because of its advantages that can be taken advantage of, including the high viscosity of water and its tolerance to high temperatures resulting from combustion or air temperature, as well as low temperatures to ensure the operation of the system, that is, it maintains stability system temperature to obtain the best possible condition In addition to the purity of the liquid from salts and the presence of a percentage of oil in the composition of the coolant, an insulating layer is formed inside the pipes to prevent rust and corrosion in the pipes, thus ensuring the flow of fluids and prolonging the life of the pipes. The aim is to study and analyze the effect of induced vibrations and internal pressure on fluid transport pipes, and to compare them in the cases of using water and coolant under the same conditions. An empirical analysis considering the natural frequencies produced by the effect of fluid pressure under various stabilization conditions. It was observed from the results that the higher the pressure, the greater the percentage of the deflection of the copper tubes compared to the Aluminium tubes when using both liquids (water and coolant) at the same boundary condition noted the percentage of the deflection difference when using copper pipe (from 0% to 20.3%) was less than using Aluminium (from 2% to 59%) when the pressure was increased. That mean the Aluminium pipe better than copper pipe.
