... The drivers of enterprise digital transformation vary according to industry characteristics, with distinct obstacles and influencing factors at different stages (Liu et al. 2023;Trevisan et al. 2023). Simultaneously, a company's digital transformation strategy is influenced not only by industry characteristics but also by the need for adjustments at different stages of transformation (Hajishirzi, Costa, and Aparicio 2022;X. Zhang, Xu, and Ma 2022). ...
... عشر الخامس المجلذ -أكتوبر 0202 009 (Hajishirzi, Costa, & Aparicio, 2022) defined organizational resilience as a company's response to being destroyed, emphasizes the ability to recover and flourish in the face of adversity, crisis, or disaster and emphasizes a company's capability to adapt, expand, and survive in a changing environment. ...
... However, companies should consider another consensus mechanism like Proof of Stake (PoS) to reduce energy costs. Prior research indicates that the influence of competitive advantage on economic sustainability holds a larger significance in digitalisation than its influence on social or environmental sustainability (Hajishirzi, Costa, and Aparicio 2022). Some works consider sustainability a challenge for blockchain implementation (Boakye et al. 2023). ...
The adoption of blockchain technology is gaining trends, leading to the need for investigations into the reasons that persuade the intention to adopt it by companies. However, empirical studies in the tourism industry are still scarce. This investigation aims to design a new adoption model that combines Human-Organisation-Technology-Fit (HOT-fit), Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) and sustainability dimensions. The model is validated using new empirical evidence in a relatively understudied geographic context, with a sample of 210 Portuguese tourism companies. The information was examined utilising Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The outcomes indicate that reasons such as sustainability and competition intensity significantly impact the objective to adopt blockchain. The work provides practical implications for businesses, governments and society. Additionally, this paper offers a pioneering study of blockchain adoption by tourism companies in Portugal, which may help future researchers extend their study of this field to other sectors and regions.
... Given the latest technological advancements in modern production and manufacturing, Hajishirzi et al. [62] elaborated on the enhancement of sustainability when all three domains were considered. Their study found that economic sustainability is affected more by competitive advantage when compared to environmental sustainability, thus implying that innovators should consider reducing costs for customers' needs. ...
Rapid urbanization has exerted pressure for development on public transportation infrastructure. The rise in population has driven consumers to seek efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable transportation. The objective of this study was to assess the determinants influencing consumers’ behavioral intention and acceptance of utilizing electric public transportation. The integrated UTAUT2 and sustainable theory of planned behavior underwent a higher-order construct using partial least squares structural equation modeling analysis to thoroughly evaluate key factors influencing the intention to accept electric public transportation. The study utilized a 55-item questionnaire distributed to 438 respondents. The findings indicated that the domains of UTAUT2 had the most significant effect, with hedonic motivation as the predominant variable, followed by effort expectancy and performance expectancy. This study indicated hedonic motivation as the primary factor influencing the intention to use electric public transportation, followed by effort expectancy. This study highlights the importance of ensuring user-friendly and convenient experience in the design and delivery of electric public transportation services. Substantial implications, both theoretical and practical, are also posited. Considering the impactful variables, this study deduced that the government, transportation sectors, and electric vehicle developers should place increased emphasis on enhancing customers’ intention to accept and use public transport in a sustainable manner.
... Therefore, resilient organizations have more ability to recover from crises and fight confusion, and they can achieve a competitive advantage in the future by recognizing the internal and external environments and considering the barriers (Pratono, 2021). Studies show that business resilience is a dynamic competency for predicting and responding to crises, and companies with the capability of predicting crises possess higher social and economic stability (Hajishirzi et al., 2022). Competitive advantage states that every business should be looking for and finding a performance that enables it to preserve its stability and resistance in the marketplace-how the firms perceive the market and their competitive environments, including the local, regional, or global ones, influences how they see the opportunities that create distinction for them (Flint & Golicic, 2009). ...
Entrepreneurial ventures face various problems contributing to the regional resilience of their districts. Among such firms are digital platform‐based businesses that could have exponential impacts—indeed, if they succeed in overcoming the barriers. Thus, this study aims to identify the major technological barriers to creating regional resilience in Iran's innovation districts. This study uses the analytical hierarchy process method and an unsupervised machine learning algorithm, as well as the Delphi technique. Online panel surveys are conducted to collect data from experts in the field of online social platforms. The findings show that digital literacy barriers and cultural barriers are the criteria with the uppermost and lowermost importance. Performance sensitivity analysis illustrates that considering the C1 and C4 criteria, the Digikala platform is more resistant to technological barriers compared to other platforms. Furthermore, based on C2 and C3 criteria, it can be stated that the Snapp platform reveals better resistance than the other platforms. The importance‐performance matrix also shows that all platforms need more attention in terms of performance. Besides, the results of the BIRCH analysis show that the present model's accuracy is 88%. Meanwhile, outputs show that experts are divided into four groups or four different thoughts.
... However, different from the pre-COVID era, preparedness and anticipation no longer constitute a major part in the literature. Instead, organizational resilience is often observed as a response to disruption (Hajishirzi et al., 2022;Rodr ıguez-S anchez et al., 2021) or more specifically "to quickly adapt to disruptions" (Aldianto et al., 2021, p. 3). The rapidity of organizational actions taken is emphasized in other papers of this sample Baral et al., 2022). ...
... Since the start of COVID-19, rather than pro-active measurements taken, literature mostly views resilience as a reaction of the organization. A persisting feature mentioned in the literature is that organizational resilience conduces to the survival of the organization through crisis (Hajishirzi et al., 2022;Sutcliffe and Vogus, 2003). Similarly, the view on organizational resilience as an organization's capacity remains applicable (cf. ...
... There is often an emphasis that to be more resilient, adaptation and transformation, especially considering sustainable goals or practices, are necessary. While Hajishirzi et al. (2022) show the direct impact of business resilience on sustainability, another paper discusses that environmental or social sustainability are not impacting business resilience (Trabucco and Giovanni, 2021, p. 13). In addition, Yamin (2021) claims, that supply chain resilience positively influences the sustainable performances of supply chains. ...
Purpose
The ability of companies to develop organizational resilience before, during and after crises is crucial for their development and growth. The future forecasts increasingly more crises, thus this paper aims at identifying key topics around organizational resilience in COVID-19 times, differentiating them of pre-crisis literature and synthesizing them into a research framework.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on Web of Science and Scopus, the authors analysed the content of the only twenty-seven VHB-ranked primary studies discussing organizational resilience during COVID-19, providing a complete survey of this research area.
Findings
Following a content analysis, the authors identified main topics of interest for researchers at the moment of COVID-19, how it differed from before this adversity and provide an outlook on future research. The results presented include in the COVID-19 context: an adapted definition of organizational resilience, key theoretical framework, insights for future research. Some topics have been found to be increasingly more important during COVID-19 (i.e. digitalization, partnerships and learning) while others have been less explored although present in pre-COVID-19 research on organizational resilience (i.e. dynamic capabilities, anticipation and preparedness).
Originality/value
Understanding key issues in global disruptions could help practitioners in fostering resilience as much as researchers in identifying new ways to advance and maintain resilience. This paper differs from other reviews by providing a full text analysis, based on qualitative content analysis, of all ranked published papers in the considered period.
... Data-driven strategies and innovations in business processes considerably influence customer engagement, with the effects of data-driven approaches surpassing that of innovation. Furthermore, customer engagement markedly impacts a company's competitive edge [71]. This research probes into the digital transformation shifts in Romania and sets them against a backdrop of certain EU countries. Its primary objective is to spotlight digitalization’s significance and assess its level of integration within the Romanian banking landscape. Our approach relies on a detailed examination of the adoption of digital banking instruments in Romania through correlation and ANOVA assessments. The ANOVA analysis of the DESI index and its associated dimensions reveals how Romania’s digital transformation stands in relation to other EU member states. Our findings emphasize the numerous advantages Romanian banks have garnered from increasingly embracing digital innovations and artificial technologies. These perks span from optimized operations and efficiency to enhanced customer experiences and a sharpened competitive advantage. The research indicates a strong positive correlation between a bank’s return on assets and its liquid assets to deposits and short-term funding ratios. This suggests that as digital integration deepens, there is a marked upturn in financial robustness. Additionally, the study sheds light on the perks of individuals adopting digital banking offerings and delves into factors that propel and impede the digital evolution in the banking arena. Overall, this paper presents valuable insights into Romania’s digital banking trajectory and the sector’s long-term viability.
... Banks need to offer a superb service to clients specially those who are sophisticated and will not agree to below average services (Al- Kassem et al., 2012;Blooshi et al., 2023;Frederico et al., 2021). Therefore, IT in general and E-banking in particular have to escalate the competitiveness and provide the services that can differentiate their services from their rivals and enhance the overall access and usage of technologies via smart applications (R. S. Aljumah et al., 2023;Hajishirzi et al., 2022). Why do you think this is a problem? ...
"The number one benefit of information technology is that it empowers people to do what they want to do. It lets people be creative. It lets people be productive. It lets people learn things they didn't think they could learn before, and so in a sense it is all about potential." The American businessman Steve Ballmer once said. Nowadays, being up to date with the changes in the market is a necessity for a successful business as applying mobile banking services resulted in some great changes in the bank’s working system. The mobile banking application has improved the working environments for everyone involved including employees and customers; Being able to access the information when is needed and approving the transactions digitally considered an important usage of mobile banking application. However, this paper covers the effect of mobile banking on productivity and quality; it has literature review and research findings from analyzing the responses that supported research hypotheses. It also includes other aspects such as the challenges that banks are facing because of the implementation mobile banking services. However, the results indicated a significant positive impact on mobile banking adoption. Finally, the paper concludes some recommendations to enhance the provided services and improve the customers’ satisfaction.
... As a dynamic capability, organizational resilience is nurtured by the firm's readiness to establish positive exchanges in the ecosystem, developing a greater sensitivity to evolving environmental trends (Curtis & Slocum, 2022) and absorbing energies and resources from interacting with relevant stakeholders (Yuan et al., 2022). Interorganizational relationships are fostered by digitalization, which expands information flow across the firm's boundaries (Trabucco & De Giovanni, 2021) and facilitates the stakeholders' engagement in inspiring management decisions and actions (Hajishirzi et al., 2022). ...
Organizational resilience enables the firm to thrive in an increasingly turbulent environment, paving the way for sustainability. Although the implications of organizational resilience on sustainability have been widely discussed in the literature, scholarly knowledge examining the interplay between these two phenomena is fragmented. The article addresses this gap through a hybrid domain‐based literature review falling at the intersection of organizational resilience and sustainability. Drawing on a knowledge core of 51 scientific contributions, we identified four research streams established on five conceptual foundations. The study findings guide us toward an eco‐social interpretation of organizational resilience, whose implications on the firm's viability should be assessed by acknowledging spillovers on environmental sustainability. Management actions to build organizational resilience should follow an ecosystem sustainability orientation. This involves embedding the firm in the eco‐social setting in which it operates, emphasizing its homeostatic exchanges with the environment.
... SMEs need a sustainable competitive advantage to thrive in a highly competitive global environment. Business sustainability helps firms adapt to change and become more resilient (Ngah et al., 2015;Hajishirzi et al., 2022). Therefore, effective business strategies are essential for SMEs' continued success and competitive advantage, which positively impacts their performance and national economies, as noted by Anwar (2018), leading to higher sales and customer loyalty (Dahnil et al., 2014;Yang et al., 2022). ...
Purpose
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are a major source of employment and revenue growth in developing nations like India, but they also face challenges from resource shortages, shifting consumer demand and heightened competition. This research aims to discover the aspects that enhance SMEs' competitiveness and performance.
Design/methodology/approach
By analyzing literature and consulting experts, 10 factors that boost a firm's competitiveness were identified. The total interpretive structural modeling (TISM) method was then used to determine their interaction and structural hierarchy. Neutrosophic-MICMAC analysis was employed to assess the driving-dependence power of each factor.
Findings
The study discovered that the factor, namely “entrepreneurial orientation,” was found to be a significant one. “Manufacturing strategy” was found to be extremely dependent on the remaining competitive advantage factors.
Research limitations/implications
This SME-focused framework can be adopted by large businesses to enhance organizational performance by focusing on critical factors. The study depends on experts' judgment, which might be biased. Findings will assist SMEs in identifying significant factors influencing competitive advantage and relationships, increasing awareness of factors contributing to competitive edge.
Practical implications
The results of the research may encourage SME sector managers and practitioners to prioritize the factors that contribute to a firm's competitive advantage.
Originality/value
The majority of research on SME competitive advantage focuses on individual aspects. To add to the body of knowledge on the subject, this study applies the TISM technique to Indian SMEs to identify the contextual interactions among factors that increase long-term competitiveness.
