... the other hand, one teacher averred that students easily intimidated to do problem-solving due to a lack of prior knowledge in dealing with inverse functions. Table 6 discloses 20 percent of the teachers claiming that graphing exponential functions were difficult to teach due to students' inability to plot points and time constraints. A proportion of teachers also admitted that they usually skipped the competency because they found it difficult to elaborate further. ...

... Moreover, linking school governance and students access to educational opportunities to basic education quality was determined using Spearman Rank-Order Correlation. The following guide in interpreting the value of ρ, suggested by Cohen, West, and Aiken (2014) [5] and also used by Refugio, Galleto, Bulado, Dimalig, Colina, Inoferio, and Nocete (2020) [20] , was used. ...

The government of the Philippines has looked into some measures to improve high-quality education. In three school divisions in the country—Zamboanga del Norte, Dipolog City and Dapitan City—a study described the quality of basic education through school governance and students access to educational opportunities. The findings revealed that the quality of basic education was not significantly correlated, even though students' access to educational opportunities was "high," and school governance was managed "to a very large extent." Conclusively, students have equal and equitable possibilities to benefit fully from their education regardless of their socioeconomic situation. Similarly, activities carried out in schools are expertly executed by school heads and their constituents to provide the school with strategic direction to ensure that goals are attained, and resources are used responsibly and with accountability. However, it may be necessary to identify additional variables contributing to the deterioration to improve the dismal state of basic education quality.

The study aimed to determine the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program's implementation landscape in the Division of Dapitan City, Philippines, through the support mechanism's lens to instruction, teachers' attitude, and best practices. It utilized survey and correlational methods of research using a questionnaire checklist. Results revealed that ALS instruction's high support mechanism was small and positively low but significantly related to the teachers' highly positive attitudes towards work and the teachers' best practices in implementing the program. However, room for more significant improvement is deemed essential to raise the high to very high support since the teachers as implementers of the program possessed high disposition and registered best practices in embracing the program's implementation in the city. Hence, the division's administration should look for the best ways to raise funds and not rely only on the government's budget. The effort may be moderated by the proposed Enhanced Alternative Learning System Development Plan. Keywords: Support mechanism, attitude, best practices

Demonstrating knowledge of content requires teachers to display extensive knowledge of the critical concepts in the discipline. This study was set up to provide a research-based landscape of the content knowledge level of elementary mathematics teachers viewed in the local district of Ayungon in the Division of Negros Oriental, Philippines. Survey and correlational methods of research were used in the study involving 95 non-randomly selected teachers. Results revealed that the content knowledge level of the teachers was approaching proficiency. The teachers’ educational attainment, number of training attended, and the number of years in teaching mathematics were not significantly related to their content knowledge level. It was concluded that teaching experience and professional development in the form of pursuing graduate studies and attending training did not have bearing with the content knowledge level possessed by the teachers. However, the teachers were inferred as resourceful and committed to teaching mathematics despite their weaknesses in the content knowledge to share with their learners. Hence, enhancement training in all areas in mathematics is to be provided to elementary mathematics teachers by implementing the training design developed by the researchers. The ultimate goal is to develop further the content knowledge, mastery, and skills of the teachers to achieve the highest proficiency level in mathematics.
