Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a lengthy surgical procedure that requires a personalized approach depending on the characteristics of the patient. For this reason, this surgery requires a meticulous preoperative planning, as well as a careful postoperative recovery protocol to promote the achievement of positive outcomes while simultaneously preventing the occurrence of any major complications that could negatively impact the well-being of the patient. In this article, we summarize some of the activities performed in the perioperative stages of THA as well as the attentive care of the patient throughout all the phases of the surgery.
