... 2012, Google released a so-called Easter egg version (Wikipedia contributors 2022) of Google Maps closely resembling 8-bit video games which allowed users to explore the world in 8-bit (Nomura 2012). This special version of Google Maps included an imaginary island at (0, 0), borrowed from the computer game Dragon Quest (Figure 4a).
