Regulatory emotional self-efficacy represents individuals’ belief in their capacity to manage emotions effectively and plays a vital role in supporting emotional well-being and adaptive functioning, particularly in university students. This study explores the influence of loneliness on regulatory emotional self-efficacy and its underlying mechanisms by incorporating two mediating variables—satisfaction with life and social interaction anxiety—within a chain mediation model. A total of 547 undergraduate students from a university located in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, participated in the survey. The findings reveal that loneliness directly impacts regulatory emotional self-efficacy; satisfaction with life mediates the effect of loneliness on regulatory emotional self-efficacy; social interaction anxiety also mediates the effect of loneliness on regulatory emotional self-efficacy; and satisfaction with life and social interaction anxiety jointly serve as chain mediators in the relationship between loneliness and regulatory emotional self-efficacy. This study sheds light on the connection between loneliness and regulatory emotional self-efficacy, offering a theoretical basis and practical guidance for improving students’ emotional regulation and overall well-being.

This study aims to examine the complex relationships among personality traits, English language teaching methods, classroom management concerns, mindfulness and perspectives on participation in projects of English language teachers working at various levels in public and private institutions in Turkey. The research was designed to include qualitative and quantitative methods using questionnaires and interviews. For this, three separate scales were applied to 400 participants to assess their personality traits, foreign language teaching methods, mindfulness levels and classroom management concerns. Quantitative data collection was followed by interviews with 34 volunteers; thematic analysis was applied to the qualitative data obtained from these interviews. The findings showed that Turkish English language teachers have high levels of agreeableness, extroversion, conscientiousness and low levels of neuroticism, high levels of classroom management concerns and moderate levels of mindfulness, and they use active teaching methods to a high extent. Additionally, it shows the personality types of Turkish English language teachers are largely related to the foreign language teaching methods, their mindfulness levels and concerns about classroom management. The results suggest personality traits have a significant impact on teachers’ level of mindfulness, classroom management concerns, and teaching methods. Certain personality traits exhibited a positive relationship, while neuroticism showed a negative correlation with these factors. Significant differences were found between teachers’ participation in projects and their personality traits, teaching methods, mindfulness levels, and classroom management concerns. The findings show that meeting teachers’ needs, reducing their anxiety levels, and increasing their self-awareness will help in producing good solutions. The study also indicates that if their special needs regarding personality traits are taken into consideration, the existing problems can be minimized. Addressing these areas will also increase teachers’ overall well-being and efficiency in the classroom, thus improving learning and teaching outcomes and making teaching an attractive job.

Preventing adolescents from engaging in Health-Risk Behaviours (HRBs) requires a comprehensive understanding of the factors linked to HRBs. Factors like dysfunctional parenting practices and emotion regulation difficulties may significantly contribute to the development and persistence of HRBs. However, this association, particularly the mediating effects of emotion-regulation difficulties, has not been extensively investigated among Indian adolescents, as such research has predominantly centred around Western cultures. The current study explored emotion-regulation difficulties as a mediator in the association between perceived parenting practices and HRBs. The sample comprises 723 adolescents (Mage = 16.05; Males = 440) selected from various schools in the Punjab state of India. Structural equation modelling using item-parcels and the path analysis tested the stated hypotheses. As hypothesized, difficulties in emotion regulation were found to be a partial mediator of the parenting-HRB relationship. By offering empirical evidence of this mediational mechanism, the study enhances our understanding of how perceived parenting influences adolescent behaviour. Emotion dysregulation may be the underlying factor behind the development and maintenance of HRBs. These insights can guide researchers in designing targeted interventions to address emotion regulation difficulties and, in turn, help reduce HRBs among adolescents.

Yoga enhances acceptance, compassion, physicality, mental and emotional awareness, and spiritual benefits through breath techniques, postures, and body locks, while swimming improves flexibility, strength, and body awareness. The fusion of yoga and swimming, particularly the aqua yoga asana method, offers a balanced lifestyle for athletes and non-performers, enhancing their performance. Our study examined the feasibility of incorporating yoga and swimming practice into Romanian subjects’ lifestyles, designing a factor analysis in SmartPLS software, based on an online survey. This study assessed participants’ knowledge of yoga’s theory and philosophy, as well as their perceptions of the benefits of swimming practice for social and health issues. Our 250 young swimming athletes train in Bucharest’s sports clubs. According to our study, Romanian participants practice yoga and swimming as often as possible to reduce stress, improve concentration for work-related tasks, and improve joint elasticity, balance, and muscular tone. The high coefficient of path analysis (0.667) proved that those who practice yoga asanas have a high level of awareness and understand the fundamentals of the practice. The second coefficient of path analysis (0.857) shows that those who understand yoga better are convinced of its positive effects on society and their health. Thus, yoga and swimming are substitutes for other approaches in prevention and therapy, making it a beneficial tool for pre-performance swimming.

Research on unitive states, mystical experiences, and spirituality engendered by Yoga practice, although currently limited, is an area of growing interest and importance. This chapter examines the research evidence for the association of Yoga with multiple aspects of spirituality and its related characteristics/phenomena, such as transcendence, nondual awareness, and mystical experiences. It also examines various factors reported in the literature that have been found to facilitate the effects of Yoga practice on spirituality. Evidence from a number of research studies suggests that how Yoga is perceived and practised has an impact on spirituality that emerges out of one’s practice. Furthermore, a number of large sample surveys found that even though the primary intent for starting a Yoga practice is typically for physical and mental health reasons, over time, the motivation for continuing Yoga practice eventually shifts to more holistic aspects of Yoga, such as spirituality. Among other factors, studies found that regularity of practice, Yoga teachers’ experience level, and preexisting perception of spirituality seem to play a significant role in the spiritual benefit of Yoga practice. Research findings from prospective trials in patient populations show that the practice of Yoga may also be found to be helpful in coping with the symptoms and complications of disease states and to be supportive in enhancing overall quality of life including spirituality. Given the limited yet promising research findings, future research in Yoga and spirituality could further benefit from studies using objective methods including neuroimaging, hormonal/neurochemical, psychophysiological, and even molecular biological assessments that can be strongly linked to changes in spirituality.

In Spanishspeaking cultures, the word "compassion" is often associated with religion and is very closely related to the concepts of mercy or pity (119). In fact, due to this understanding, some studies have operationalized the term for compassion in Spanish as "advantageous inequality" (81), which is not the case in the English-speaking context, where compassion is differentiated from, and preferred over, similar related concepts of empathy and sympathy (27,28). ...

Aims and objectives This systematic review aims to: (1) explore which tools have been used in Spanish to measure compassion; (2) know which of these tools could be used to assess compassion in healthcare settings from the perspective of patients; (3) evaluate the quality of these patient-reported measures in Spanish contexts; and (4) determine which of these instruments would be best suited to be used in healthcare settings. Background Compassion has been recognized as a fundamental dimension of quality healthcare. Methods Several scientific databases were consulted for relevant records published up to December 16th, 2021. In accordance with PRISMA guidelines, 64 studies were included. Results and conclusions while existing instruments, validated in Spanish, allow for the measurement of self-compassion or compassion to others, there are no valid and reliable measures currently available in Spanish to measure patient-reported compassion. Relevance to clinical practice In order to ensure and promote compassion in the health care context, it is essential to have a valid and reliable tool to measure this construct in a patient-informed way, and this is currently not possible in the Spanish-speaking context because of the lack of such an instrument in Spanish.

Introduction Yoga is one of the physical and mental activities used in elite sports training for risk prevention and medical rehabilitation in case of injuries caused by overtraining or accidents. This study examined the opinions of Romanian elite athletes and coaches on the feasibility of incorporating yoga practice into training regimens for purposes of injury prevention and medical recovery. Methods This study surveyed a group of 500 athletes, coaches, and medical personnel from three universities in Romania, all of which are part of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (PES). An online survey was administered which evaluates athletes’ experience of yoga integration in pre/post training and its positive effects on reducing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The data were then analyzed with a structural equation model utilizing SmartPLS software. Results According to the survey, Romanian athletes use yoga both before and after competitions to improve their focus, balance, muscle, and joint elasticity, foster a winning mindset, control their emotions and PTSD, visualize their competition performance, and see themselves as winners. The survey also found that yoga is seen as useful for cardiac rehabilitation, neuropathic pain, pulmonary disease, orthopedic illness, muscle strain, and managing symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Conclusion This study contributes to enhancing athletes’ mindfulness and health, offering valuable insights to trainers and athletes interested in incorporating yoga into professional sports activity. The results support the notion that yoga integration in training activity promises to positively influence athletes’ performance and reduce collateral side effects of competitions. The results are also in line with the objectives of the Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018–2030 (GAPPPA) - with the theme of “being more efficient to prevent than to treat” – which places special emphasis on the demands for certain programs and services, sports coverage, and healthy workplace initiatives. The study further indicates that Romanian elite athletes and coaches support the use of yoga is an effective method for enhancing athletic training and medical therapy for post-traumatic illnesses and stress disorders.
... In effect, self-awareness has been conceived as both awareness and knowledge of one's thinking, emotional, and behavioral processes (Richards et al., 2010), being in turn metacognitively influenced by self-reflection (i.e., inspection) and insight (i.e., clarity of understanding) to catalyze meaningful intrapersonal change (Grant et al., 2002). With reference to the CRAFT foundations, particularly self-awareness represents a key component worked through yoga, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence theory and practice (Chiesa et al., 2013;Gard et al., 2014;Goleman, 1998), whereas self-knowledge and insight stand as fundamental constituents of both yoga and mindfulness philosophy along the pathway of Self-realization (Dahl & Davidson, 2019;Tolbaños-Roche & Menon, 2021). As reported in the first category of Consciousness, participants' potential improvements in self-awareness seem to have surfaced not only at the CES hypothesized levels (i.e., physical, mental, and emotional) but also in relation to humanistic aspects of their lived experience (e.g., temporal, agentic, life purpose, relativistic, academic, ego, and an all-inclusive self-awareness). ...

The Consciousness, Relaxation, Attention, Fulfillment, and Transcendence (CRAFT) program, based on yoga, mindfulness, positive psychology, and emotional intelligence, was conceived as a neuroeducational method for self-actualization, happiness, and well-being. Previous quantitative research suggests the CRAFT program is a feasible intervention to improve student musicians’ health and well-being. The current study was devised to capture a wider understanding of student musicians’ experiences and perceived benefits from following the CRAFT program and how this exposure may affect their well-being and academic life. Participants were higher education student musicians ( n = 37) who had received CRAFT instruction at a conservatory of music as part of their curriculum, once a week for 1 hr, during the academic years 2017 to 2019. They completed an evaluation survey, comprising 36 5-point Likert-type items and one open-ended question. Descriptive statistics from participants’ Likert-type item evaluations supported the potential of the program to bestow numerous hypothesized benefits related to its five elements and viability. A content analysis conducted on participants’ responses to the open-ended question confirmed, clarified, and expanded these findings revealing additional benefits and insights across humanistic, educational, well-being, and music dimensions. This study rendered further supporting evidence for the CRAFT program as a viable intervention for promoting student musicians’ well-being and academic careers with relevant implications to other educational contexts, settings, and populations. Large mixed-methods investigations are needed to comprehensively understand and ascertain the efficacy and effectiveness of the CRAFT program to enhance the well-being and academic experience of student musicians.
... The cornerstone of the yoga path in achieving holistic health and well-being also includes ways and means of effective self-regulation. The consistent and correct practice of yoga postures as well as meditation can lead the elite athlete to superior self-awareness and self-regulatory skills compared to non-practitioners, which is reflected in higher levels of interoceptive awareness and decentering abilities [8,9]. The self-awareness, selfregulation, and self-transcendence (S-ART) framework in yoga is a solid pillar of training that elite athletes incorporate into their regular practice. ...
