Abstract. The change in the role of a foreign language is currently being affected by the rapid development of economic and political life. Every year more and more students, specialists in various fields choose to study a third foreign language. In this regard, the issue of increasing speech competence in the study of a third foreign language with the help of audio and video content becomes relevant. According to the author of the article, it is audio and video content that makes it possible to improve speech competence in speech perception by native speakers, as it is one of the most difficult and important for speech activity, including for the development of memory in order to retain information when listening to a topic.
