... Empirical evidence of how advanced digital management systems (ERP & BI) impact digitalization processes in manufacturing firms by improving performance is still scarce. There is a need for studies in Mexico that analyze the use of technology and its impact on the organization (Robles and Corzo, 2021). It is well-known that manufacturing firms have found a competitive element in information technology management tools in a globalized and changing economy. ...
... Consequently, the aim of this research is to show that the adoption, development and interactive use of ERP and BI systems adds a positive impact on business performance. We have taken into consideration research that favors the integration of these systems to improve decision-making capabilities and firm performance (Hou, 2013), the value of information exchange , the use of technology that professionals adopt to facilitate the control of management operations (Robles and Corzo, 2021), the transformation into competitive advantages (Peters et al., 2016), and the impact on firm performance (Elisei, 2018;Owusu, 2017;Vuksic et al., 2017). Among other studies adopting the RBV approach are (Heredia and Dur endez, 2019;Popovi c et al., 2019;Ruivo et al., 2020;Torres et al., 2018) The proposed research hypotheses have been analyzed with information collected from 120 manufacturing companies in Coahuila, M exico. ...
... Innovation enables companies to respond to market changes and maintain their competitive advantages (Duan et al., 2020;Van Auken et al., 2008). According to Robles and Corzo (2021), the use of technology is a type of business innovation that foster long-term growth. In addition, the development of digitalization with the use of BI systems in companies has been driven by an increase in Internet access and connectivity (almost unlimited) among companies, individuals, and public authorities, facilitating the sharing of information and the automation of processes and functions (Ferrari et al., 2021). ...

Design/methodology/approach – The research uses the structural equation approach based on PLS-SEM technique with a sample of 120 firms in the manufacturing industry in Coahuila, Mexico.
Findings – The paper provides empirical insights into how the interaction of ERP systems and innovation significantly affects the functionality of BI Systems and has a substantial effect on overall firm performance.
Originality/value – Empirical evidence of how advanced digital management systems (ERP and BI) impact digitalization processes in organizations by improving performance is still scarce.
