... regarding segment 11, the spiny nature of the middorsal flexible and elongated whip-like structures in most males of the family (except for M. toothlessi sp. n.) is relatively clear. Middorsal structure on segment 11 in the female paratype RH37.88/USNM1207916 of Neocentrophyes satyai Higgins, 1969 seems to be articulated at its base (see fig. 3N in Sánchez et al. 2014). Nevertheless, the revision of the other paratype RH37.27/USNM1207917 of the same species seems to indicate that this structure may not be articulated, being a spinose process rather than a spine.
