... The growing importance of CSR practices aimed at sustainability is evident in various business contexts [37]. CSR is not only a relationship between companies and other entities that can be studied experimentally but also encompasses normative content regarding the responsibilities that can be derived from companies in a changing socio-economic context [38] and, in turn, can provide competitive advantages by enhancing investor relations, strengthening reputation, and adopting eco-friendly practices to reduce costs and risks [2] since CSR evolves from a public relations issue to a core strategic element, as the specific circumstances of the issue, country, industry and company play a critical role [39]. ...
Internationalisation can profoundly reshape corporate social responsibility (CSR). As companies expand into global markets, they not only seek to boost revenues but also to strengthen their social impact. This study explores the influence of internationalisation on the CSR performance of Peruvian manufacturing firms between 2019 and 2022, drawing on the theoretical frameworks of Johanson and Vahlne, the Uppsala model, and Merubia’s theory of international networks. We examine the effects of venture capital availability and sustainable investment conditions on new business registrations in the Middle East and North Africa region during 2003–2020. We employ country-level measures of venture capital availability and sustainable investment conditions based on the degree of market readiness to attract sustainable investments and the proportion of managed assets that qualified for sustainable investment. We distinguish between conventional and Shariah-compliant managed assets. We find a significant and positive correlation between venture capital availability and new business registration. We also find a significant and positive correlation between market preparedness to embrace sustainable investments and new business registrations. Additionally, increases in assets under management, encompassing both conventional and Shariah-compliant assets, eligible for sustainable investments, corresponded higher rates of business registration. However, the influence of assets under management comprised solely of conventional assets exhibited ambiguity. Our results remain robust after applying various sensitivity tests, endogeneity analysis. The analysis contributes to the literature by using a novel measure of sustainable investment conditions and contributing to the scarce literature on alternative finance and entrepreneurial activity in a unique region.

This study analyzed the use of cork-derived biochar, obtained through pyrolysis, as a more sustainable additive than traditional carbon materials. In addition, the present study explored its application in a polymer matrix through additive manufacturing via stereolithography. To the best of our knowledge, this approach has not been reported in scientific literature. The cork biochar retained the morphology of the original cork and integrated well into the photocurable polymer, as demonstrated by scanning electron microscopy. This integration can contribute to the formation of internal networks within the material, potentially modifying some of its properties. At specific low percentages, cork biochar enhanced both the electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of photocurable polymers. Notably, the required biochar concentrations were minimal, facilitating its incorporation into the photopolymer matrix. Additionally, the thermal stability of the material slightly improved at certain percentages but remained comparable to that of the original polymer in all cases. These findings highlight the potential of cork biochar as a sustainable additive for advanced polymer composites.

... This challenges the traditional view of value maximization solely for shareholders, suggesting that a company's success should be assessed based on its impact on all stakeholders, not merely on financial returns to shareholders. Abad-Segura et al. (2019) argue that the growing interest in studying the relationship between socially responsible practices and sustainability aligns with Milton Friedman's shareholders' theory, which emphasizes a company's primary responsibility to increase profits. ...
Many studies have examined the relationship between environmental, social and governance performance (ESGP) and financial performance (FP) across various sectors. However, the statistical results of previous studies exhibit variability, including significant and insignificant positive or negative relationships. Moreover, the effects of using ESG ratings from different databases are rarely considered. This paper investigates the sensitivity of data results from different ESG rating agencies by analyzing the ESG ratings of the same companies from the Bloomberg and Refinitiv databases over a 10-year period, covering 464 companies in environmentally sensitive sectors worldwide. Through examining the relationship between ESGP and FP, our research offers potentially valuable insights into the consequences of using different ESG ratings from different rating agencies. The results indicate that using different ESG scores from different rating agencies significantly alters the main results of such studies in the literature and, consequently, influences researchers' and investors' decision-making processes, depending on which ESG data source is utilized.

Background: Boron plays a crucial role in cell wall construction in plants and also facilitates the transfer of carbohydrates, which are essential for various physiological processes. The objective was to measure element concentrations in soil, water extracts and plant tissues (Zea mays) using Azomethine-H and ICP-MS within a controlled microplate assay. Methods: A microscopic plate repeat test was used to analyze the concentration of boron in soil extracts and plant tissue ash from local Zea mays leaves, considering the global trend in environmental sustainability. Tests aimed to modify the azomethine-H microscopic approach to eliminate pH and chemical interferences in soil samples and plant tissues. Due to their ability to ensure sample repeatability and quality control, micro spectrophotometers are ideal for high-throughput analysis. Result: The microplate test has enhanced boron measurement in soil and plant tissue samples. Our improvements to the microplate B assay have resulted in more accurate boron measurements in these samples. Microplate B testing is effective and suitable analysis in modern research and laboratories, using 40 times less chemical reagent per sample than traditional spectrophotometry. Additionally, microplates enable simultaneous analysis and calibration of samples.
