This study aimed to establish an endogenous relationship between social media, innovation, and financial development. Therefore, we sampled 143 countries in a panel study from 2009 to 2017 and applied some econometric techniques to achieve this purpose. To conclude our findings, we infer that social media and innovation play a positive and significant role in financial development. In particular, internet-related innovations positively and significantly contribute to overall financial development and financial institutions' development. That notwithstanding, the drivers of financial development to positively relate to social media and innovation are economic growth, gross capital formation, and institutional quality (country-level risk perception).
