... Petroleum is an important strategic resource for the economic and social development, as well as the national defence and security. With the exploitation, storage and transportation of petroleum resources, the environmental problems caused by oil spills have become more prominent than ever (Huang et al., 2019;Jiang et al., 2022;Ullah et al., 2021). Oil spills can directly affect the survival and reproduction of marine organisms, and indirectly affect the health and safety of human beings by transmitting toxicity through food chains (Campelo et al., 2021;Laffon et al., 2016). ...
Oil pollutants pose significant threats to marine and terrestrial ecosystems, necessitating the effective methods of oil species identification for the emergence responses of oil spill incidents. This study employs the excitation-emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy to capture and analyse the spectral characteristics of various oil species at different thicknesses. Some data augmentation techniques, including data smoothing and denoising, are introduced in this study to expand the dataset and enhance data quality. The methodology of transfer learning, which significantly reduces training time and improves model accuracy by sharing parameters, is adopted in this study. The enhancement of transfer learning method is examined using several typical deep learning networks. It is found that the implementation of transfer learning not only reduces the number of trainable parameters, but also improves identification accuracies by leveraging shared parameters, which makes it more efficient and accurate than building models from scratch. The proposed methodology enhances the capability of identifying petroleum pollutants using deep learning method and provides a new perspective on the advancement of oil spill monitoring technology.

Research background: A geographic information system (GIS) is a
computer-based information system that gathers, manages, and
disseminates different geographic (related to earth) information to provide
intelligent analytics necessary for prompt decisions and actions. A GIS can
aggregate data from several different streams and turn it into a smart
dashboard for different users to enhance productivity. The use of
intelligent technologies, remote sensing, and ad-hoc wireless networks has
significantly improved GIS. In GIS, utilization of sensed data from
different sources depends upon the use of efficient sensing equipment,
smart mobile nodes, and network gateways and relays that can efficiently
route traffic towards the sink or base station. GIS achieve attention in
emergency response scenarios for their capability to collect, analyze, and
process spatial-referred.
Purpose of the article: Article is focused on studying and identifying
suitable routing issues of wireless mobile nodes, which are the main
transponders for smooth and errorless data transmission.
Methods: We performed a simulation-based comparative study of three
different routing protocols used in ad-hoc wireless networks, namely is to
identify suitable routing protocols that can aid the GIS to improve its
overall performance. We calculated and compared our results with
different routing protocols. We were able, with the Random mobility
model, to estimate the performance of various network parameters.
Findings & Value added: We proposed a study in this work that includes
geo-information services overall of routing protocols to support a team in
stressful situations. The study shows that the AODV routing protocol
performed better than the other two routing protocols (OLSR & TORA)
under the given topology.

In order to make effective emergency decisions timely, this paper presents an intelligent decision support system framework for deep-sea emergency response. There are two kinds of intelligent methods integrated in the presented system. One is the emergency situation analysis method based on Bayesian network, which is used to evaluate the emergency situation quantitatively by calculating the occurrence probability of emergency situation risk at each level. The other is the emergency assistant decision-making method based on case-based reasoning, which is applied to make assistant decisions. The presented system can provide scientific basis for decision making and perform well in practice.
