... Author's Keywords are provided by the authors who intend to describe the content of their article in the most suitable way. Index Keywords are created by Scopus professional indexers or algorithms based on the paper's content, cited references, etc. Keywords Plus are usually more descriptive than author-assigned keywords and can express the contents of the articles more succinctly [90]; however, Scopus Index Keywords appear to be even more informative than those provided by WoS [54]. According to the Author's Keywords, "climate change" has become a significant research topic in recent years (Figure 7). ...
Ice caves remain relatively underexplored as climatic archives. Due to the rapid loss of ice mass that is observed worldwide as a result of global climate warming, we are losing this record year by year. This trend has likely prompted scientists from all over the world to expand and accelerate their research on perennial cave ice. In this study, using bibliometric analysis, we demonstrate how ice caves have become increasingly popular subjects of scientific research, especially within the past two decades. The article reveals that climate change has recently become a significant topic in speleological research. However, relatively few articles are directly focused on this issue, and the keyword is more commonly used as a connection between other areas of geoscience research. Many studies emphasize the urgent need for interdisciplinary collaboration to address the challenges facing this fragile ecosystem. Although the increasing number of published scientific studies resembles a race against time to explore as much as possible before this unique underground world disappears.
... Both "author keywords" and "keywords plus" can present the knowledge structure of a topic and the connections between different research areas. In some cases, "keywords plus" can be more explanatory than the keywords assigned by the authors (Zhang et al., 2016;Tripathi et al., 2018). Upon examining the visual map, it is evident that the outcomes of the co-occurrence analysis of Keywords Plus (Figure 4 (a and b)) align closely with those of the cooccurrence analysis of author keywords (Figure 4 (c)). ...

... Similarly, few studies analyzed the distribution of the thematic terms provided by the scholarly databases. These studies used the frequency distribution of terms like author keywords and keywords plus to highlight the trends of research in a particular domain (Tripathi et al., 2018;Zhang et al., 2016). However, a study compared the distributional properties of Keywords Plus and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) to determine which index terms would provide a better classification for medical research fields (Valderrama-Zuri an et al., 2021). ...
Purpose
The goal of this study is to assess the degree of resemblance between machine-generated terms provided by two major indexing systems: Web of Science Keywords Plus and Dimensions Concepts.
Design/methodology/approach
A thorough analysis examines the distributional characteristics and similarities between these two terms. The study utilizes the rank frequency distribution of terms and comparisons of their forms using goodness-of-fit measures to assess distributional properties. Whereas to evaluate the similarities, the study utilized Jaccard similarity measures between high-frequency terms as well as overall terms (i.e. KW Plus and Dimensions Concepts).
Findings
The findings demonstrate that these two terms differ significantly in both distributional forms and similarities, thus representing different kinds of information related to the publication. The findings further indicate that the algorithms used by both databases for term generation/extraction are quite different from each other.
Research limitations/implications
The implications of this study will enhance scholarly indexing and retrieval practices, supporting effective information access, organization and interdisciplinary research within academic databases and knowledge systems.
Originality/value
The novelty of the study is that it focuses on revealing the characteristics, similarities and differences between major indexing terms that were previously argued to be useful for performing various text analysis and scientometric exercises.
... Unlike author keywords, indexed keywords consider synonyms, alternative spellings, and plurals. VOSviewer determines the co-occurrence of all keywords (author and index terms) to identify research patterns based on keyword co-occurrence between two timestamps (Tripathi et al., 2018). ...
Avocados, including the peels and seeds, have beneficial nutritional value and can be processed into oils. To understand the trends and promote the use of avocado waste, it is essential to ascertain the scientific contributions, productivity, quality, and gaps in the avocado oil research field. This research identifies the changes in the research trend over the last ten years compared to previous studies. Additionally, this study examines and summarizes the research question, significant study findings, and future directions for avocado oil research through an overview format. Results show that the market for avocado oil has been growing, received greater attention, and been extensively studied in the last 10 years as opposed to the preceding century. There is more collaborative research on this topic globally from 2014 to 2023 than from 1928 to 2013. The direction of avocado oil research has not changed significantly; rather, it has expanded from the foundational studies and become more focused. Surprisingly, recent advancements indicate a notable increase in the research topic of avocado oil adulteration, implying that such practices have become more prevalent in the last decade compared to earlier periods. Though research hotspots noted that avocado oil is still being tested on animals, such as rats, the use of avocado oil for cosmetic purposes was not emphasized till 1928–2013. Other persisting hotspots include avocado being tried for antioxidant or oxidative stress prevention, insulin resistance prevention, extraction, compositional analysis, and avocado oils being compared alongside other oils.
... Keywords of author (DE) refer to keywords specific list (usually less than 10) that the publication authors list to describe the content used in their research throughout the paper. In contrast, Keywords Plus (ID) indicates to extended phrases and keywords by the database to increase the probability of the literature being retrieved, composed of keywords from cited references by authors [15]. Food production accounts for a substantial part of human activities’ negative impact on planetary environmental stability. Although environmental education and education for sustainable development could both promote changes in this area, research often does not focus on their potential to build healthy and sustainable eating habits. Here, a bibliometric map of the scientific literature is outlined, revealing trends and opportunities for research on this topic. The SPAR-4-SLR protocol was used to collect a large sample (RQ1 sample: n = 2067) and, subsequently, a narrow sample (RQ2 sample: n = 256) of research works on this topic. The sampling process and data treatment were undertaken in RStudio. The bibliometric analysis shows that scientific research in this area is increasing exponentially in quantity (R² = 0.926). However, the model also indicates that quality standards have been decreasing (β = −0.951 p < 0.001), with a high adjustment (R² = 0.803). Cross-statistical corroboration points in the same direction (r = −0.541 p < 0.01). Authorship quality has low consistency among publications focused on eating-habit education from an environmental sustainability perspective. The emerging topics are meat consumption, behavior, attitudes, and the Mediterranean diet. This research unveils gaps to be explored in future research on education for sustainable development (and environmental education) to foster healthy and sustainable eating habits, and contributes to the discussion on the quality standards of scientific research.

Bladder cancer (BC) is a significant global health issue with high incidence and mortality rates. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a crucial role in regulating gene expression and have been found to be dysregulated in BC. Understanding the role of miRNAs in BC development could lead to targeted therapies and improved patient management. Our study presents a thorough examination of the correlation between BC and miRNA research from 2008 to 2022. With the help of 3 powerful methods, including VOSviewer, Biblioshiny, and CiteSpace software, we analyzed the retrieved documents from “Core Collection databases online” on the Web of Science. In total, 798 articles were extracted from the Web of Science, and the number of published papers showed an upward trend from 2008 to 2019. The total number of citations was 21,233, of which the highest paper was a review article written by Chan Jiajia et al in 2018 with 752 citations. Based on the result of the coauthor analysis, Seki Naohiko was the most productive writer and China had the highest volume of published articles. Co-citation analysis was used to reveal the knowledge structure of the research field. In addition to the keywords “Bladder cancer” and “miRNA,” “Proliferation,” “Biomarkers,” and “Apoptosis” were the high-frequency used keywords. Recently, increasingly researchers have paid more attention to the field about BC and miRNA around the worldwide. Through in-depth communication and close collaboration, the veil of miRNA in BC has gradually been unveiled. Bibliometric analysis helps to identify hotspots in research and areas for future investigation.
