Although these reconstructions provide a good view of the separation of Africa, Madagascar, and India from the rest of Gondwanaland, they do not depict the land connections beween Antarctica and either South America, or Australia, respectively, that are thought to have persisted well into the Eocene (Yanbin 1998, Lawver et al. 1999, Sanmartín 2002, Francis et al. 2008, and others). © by Ron Blakely, NAU Geology.
