... A number of characteristics have been connected to an increased risk of developing obsessive-compulsive disorder, although the precise etiology of the condition remains obscure. Kamarul Zaman et al. (2022) posit that heredity is one of the determinants of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Research has indicated that an elevated risk of developing obsessive-compulsive disorder is associated with having a first-degree relative (self-affected sibling, parent, or child) diagnosed with the disorder. ...
... Also, there are some exclusive methods for treating scrupulosity distinct from the general OCD. The preventive measures include constant recitation of Qur'an, especially Surah Al-aqarah, remembrance of Allah (ad-dhikr), and pronouncement of ta'awwudh (seeking refuge of Allah from the devil) (Zaman et al., 2022). The importance of recitation of baqarah in combating the effect of the devil's tricks and whispers is emphasized in the prophetic traditions: 'do not turn your house graveyards. ...
... Ruqyah consist of recitation of the Qur'an and/or other supplications with the hope that Allah will remove an ailment or disorder. This is asserted by Kamarul Zaman et al., (2022) where they maintain that ruqyah is divided into two categories: ruqyah which is compliant with the Islamic jurisprudence (Ruqyah Ash Shariah) and the deviant ruqyah which contains polytheistic practices (Ruqyah Ash Shirkiyyah), stressing that the former is one of the strongest way of recovering or combating any mental or psychological disorder because a specific chapter was revealed as a protection from obsession (waswas), that is Suratu an-Nas (Qur'an, chapter 114). ...
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a prevalent mental health condition characterized by compulsive behaviors and irrepressible impulses. The treatment for this disorder is challenging due to its complex nature. It is occasionally linked to religious observances referred to as scrupulosity. This disorder exhibits a multitude of consequences. The manifestation of these intrusive thoughts and undesirable behaviors among students impede their ability to study efficiently and negatively impact their academic performance. Researchers and academics have put forth a range of pharmaceutical and psychological remedies and solutions for this catastrophic disorder. This research proposes potential Islamic strategies for resisting and curtailing the disorder. The research findings indicate that the Islamic antidote for managing OCD involves several spiritual and therapeutic practices such as dhikr (remembrance of God), tawakkul (trust in God), salah (prayer), du’a (supplication) and istighfar (seeking forgiveness). Additionally, individuals afflicted with this disorder, should employ strategies such as daily supplications, incantation (Al-uqyah Al-Sharʿiyyah) and efforts to prevent intrusive thoughts. The study effectively employed a descriptive methodology to conduct its examination.
The reality of mental health is a complex matter. In modern medicine, the measurement of mental health is subjective due to the limitations of the human ability to understand the actualisation of the soul. However, a review of mental health discourse in Islamic civilisation displays a holistic and dynamic perspective. Thus, this study is presented to discuss the prospects of mental health care based on the perspective of al-Ḥakīm al-Tirmidhī [W320H] in the work Riyāḍah al-Nafs. Al-Ḥakīm al-Tirmidhī is recognised as the earliest hadith scholar who featured a specific discourse on mental health through a Sufism approach. Based on the thematic textual analysis method, this qualitative study examines 32 discourses of soul entry discussed by al-Ḥakīm al-Tirmidhī in his work Riyāḍah al-Nafs. The study found that al-Ḥakīm al-Tirmidhī has successfully presented the dynamism of spiritual functions as the core of mental and physical health. Among the main perspectives presented is the need to control the human soul's desires, actions and behaviour, centring on excessive pleasure. According to him, the matter is an obstacle to peace of mind and mental health. This study found his perspective to be significant with the concept of controlling excess dopamine hormones that can affect mental health. In conclusion, the contribution of al-Ḥakīm al-Tirmidhī as early as the 3rd century Hijrah through the work of Riyāḍah al-Nafs should be recognised as a pioneering reference for the development of the psychospiritual field today.
In 1987, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared May 31st as World No Tobacco Day to address the tobacco epidemic and deaths due to smoking. In 2017, WHO stated that the tobacco industry is a major contributor to the global pollution crisis, impacting the health and well-being of the worldwide community. In line with WHO's goals, the Malaysian Ministry of Health proposed the Generational Endgame (GEG) policy to curb smoking and nicotine addiction among the younger generation. However, in 2023, the Malaysian government removed nicotine from the list of controlled substances, contradicting the efforts to control smoking and nicotine as per the WHO's aspirations. Accordingly, this study is presented to analyze the challenge of implementing smoking prevention measures in Malaysia based on the hadith perspective. Using the thematic textual analysis method, this qualitative study examines hadiths with the theme of preventing harm in the Kutub Sittah (The Six Major Books of Hadith) to propose guidelines for solving the dilemma of the consistency of the smoking and nicotine prevention agenda in Malaysia. This study concluded that a comprehensive implementation of the smoking prevention agenda in Malaysia is necessary to ensure public health and environmental sustainability. In conclusion, policy implementation initiatives such as GEG to prevent the culture of smoking in Malaysia should be maintained in line with the demands for the protection of mental well-being contained in maqāṣid al-sharī'ah (Objectives of Islamic Divine Law).

The citing of Quranic verses for mental disorders like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and OCD have been witnessed to be practiced. This scholarly paper intends to kindle through the credibility of existing studies on therapeutic efficacy that the Qur’an illustrates for mental disorders.
