Despite all the ink split and words spoken, career satisfaction concept has not been evaluated sufficiently in some research areas, notably education and alumni literature. We aim to explain career satisfaction extending for individuals’ university education satisfaction, alumni satisfaction, unlike the previous studies. This paper also aims to she...

Current research on the career satisfaction of graduates limits educational institutions in devising methods to attain high career satisfaction. Thus, this study aims to use data science models to understand and predict career satisfaction based on information collected from surveys of university alumni. Five machine learning (ML) algorithms were used for data analysis, including the decision tree, random forest, gradient boosting, support vector machine, and neural network models. To achieve optimal prediction performance, we utilized the Bayesian optimization method to fine-tune the parameters of the five ML algorithms. The five ML models were compared with logistic and ordinal regression. Then, to extract the most important features of the best predictive model, we employed the SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP), a novel methodology for extracting the significant features in ML. The results indicated that gradient boosting is a marginally superior predictive model, with 2–3% higher accuracy and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) compared to logistic and ordinal regression. Interestingly, concerning low career satisfaction, those with the worst scores for the phrase “how frequently applied knowledge, skills, or technological tools from the academic training” were less satisfied with their careers. To summarize, career satisfaction is related to academic training, alumni satisfaction, employment status, published articles or books, and other factors.
... Alumni satisfaction is alumni satisfaction with the alma mater that was formed because alumni feel that studying at a campus is in great demand, a campus that is committed to developing curriculum and teaching, a campus that provides courses to improve skills, a campus that has a good library collection, good relations with lecturers and staff academic performance, as well as satisfaction because academic experience influences current careers (Turan & Tunc, 2015). Alumni satisfaction will increase alumni involvement in the form of support and/or participation in university or faculty events. ...

This study aims to determine the profile of alumni of the Master of Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Trisakti. The respondents to this study were Master of Management alumni from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Trisakti who graduated in 2020–2021. The type of research used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The data used are primary data collected through surveys by distributing questionnaires to respondents. The data is processed using SPSS software. There were 261 graduates of the Master of Management Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Trisakti Master of Management Study Program for 2020–2021, but only 201 completed the complete tracer study. Questionnaires were distributed directly to alumni or alumni users whose whereabouts were known. The results of the study show that alumni stated that the majors taken were under the field of work. Overall, graduates were able to get their first job in less than six months. Alumni receive academic guidance, participate in research projects, and have the opportunity to become part of professional scientific networks. Graduates can communicate, work with teams, develop themselves, and utilize information technology. The results of the implementation of this tracer study can be used as material for evaluating and improving the leadership of MM FEB Trisakti University regarding graduate profiles and the abilities that graduates must have, both soft and hard, to be competitive in the world of work.

In an effort to improve the quality of higher education, it is necessary to find the main predictors or determinants of the quality requested. One of the indicators is alumni satisfaction. Therefore, the problems of this research are to determine the satisfaction of the Educational Management Program alumni and to examine the variables, facilities and infrastructure, professionalism of lecturers, and curriculum relevance, which determine the alumni satisfaction. This was an ex-post facto study. The research design used an ex-post facto method because this method aims to find causes that allow changes in behavior or phenomena, in this case alumni satisfaction with the teaching and learning process. The study data was obtained from the alumni of the Educational Management Program who currently work in one selected regency. A total of 36 alumni were involved as samples. The data collection instrument used by the researchers was in the form of a scale consisting of 27 items that had been proved reliable and valid. The results showed that most alumni had a high level of satisfaction, and there was1 model that determined an alumni satisfaction of 36.10%, namely for the professionalism of lecturers.
... Alumni satisfaction adalah kepuasan alumni terhadap almamater yang terbentuk karena alumni merasakan kuliah di kampus yang banyak diminati, kampus yang berkomitmen dalam pengembangan kurikulum dan pengajaran, kampus yang menyediakan kursus untuk penguatan keahlian, kampus yang memiliki koleksi perpustakaan yang baik, hubungan baik dengan dosen dan staf akademik, serta kepuasan karena pengalaman akademik yang dimiliki pengaruh terhadap karir sekarang (Turan & Tunc, 2015). p> Specifically, the purpose of this study is to analyze the essence of both the direct or indirect role of alumni’s satisfaction with their alma mater. The higher alumni’s satisfaction will further encourage alumni’s involvement , and alumni’s engagement indicates that it will influence citizenship behavio r, and its influence in increasing financial and social giving behavior. The sample s of this study are were alumni of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Surakarta, with sample s of 161 alumni. Sample technique used in this study is a non -probability samplin g because of the representation of large samples that need attention and the sample used is different for each level. Based on the research model built, the data are analy s ed by using the Structure Equation Model (SEM) and the opened questions a re strengthen with interviews with alumni. The results of the study explain that alumni’s satisfaction influence alumni’s involvement and alumni’s engagement. The results of the study also show that there is an influence of alumni’s involvement and alumni’s engagement towards citizenship behavior, and a influence citizenship behavior towards financial and social behavior . The result of this study supports the theory of discretionary collaborative behavior, where the effect of alumni satisfaction on alumni involvement is proven. This is indicated by path coefficients showing the strongest results. The results also show that the effect of citizenship behavior on social giving behavior is greater than that of citizenship behavior on financial giving behavior. </p

The technology workforce is plagued by a diversity issue caused by women leaving the field at an alarming rate. This global phenomenon afflicts developing nations in particular, since women are believed to make up only 30 per cent of the technology workforce. However, there are little empirical data from developing nations on the phenomenon since most studies on the topic have been conducted in industrialized countries. This article, therefore, explores the relationship between socio-cognitive mechanisms (self-efficacy, outcome expectation, perceived social support and academic-family role conflict) and career choice satisfaction, which is posited to be one of the key influencers in an individual’s decision to continue along a particular career path. A questionnaire was used to collect data from students pursuing technology courses, such as in bachelor programmes in informatics and telecommunications, at a private university in Kenya. The findings reveal that self-efficacy, outcome expectations and perceived social support positively influence career choice satisfaction, especially among female students, whereas academic-family role conflict negatively influences career choice satisfaction of female students only. This means that government, higher education institutions and employers need to be attentive to socio-cognitive mechanisms that influence women and use this information to reduce the exodus of women from careers in technology.
