Ecuadorian Strategic Mobility Plan 2013-2037 has as one of its specific objectives to concentrate maritime traffic in port areas to ensure the profitability of the facilities and increase competition with other ports of the Southeast Pacific region (MTOP, 2016). Although the location of Ecuadorian commercial ports is represented in Figure 5 as individual points, they are zones with many terminals which might be expanded in the future according to the mobility plan. This plan also foresaw the development of a new port in the Gulf of Guayaquil to receive ships of greater capacities: a new port (Deep Water Port in Posorja) was recently built and started its operation in 2019. ...
