... Remarks. This species was found inside the flowers of the broom-sedge, Andropogon virginicus (Fig. 11). This plant is native to the southeastern United States and as far north as the Great Lakes. The larvae of Chirothrips species have atrophied legs and cannot walk, and the larvae and pupal stages are found inside the flowers (Lewis, 1973).
