The workforce is essential in the construction sector for the Industrialised Building System (IBS). Previous researchers often obtain data and opinions from the perspective of construction professionals and often neglect the labour workforce opinion. The research is to study the perspective of IBS by evaluating workforce performances factors to improve IBS performance amongst the workforces. The data collection amounts 60 targeted respondents. This study found a strong correlation between motivation, education, and workforce skill level, affecting productivity in implementing IBS. Eventually, the resolution proposes an improvement of the workforce's monetary incentive and academic level.

The workforce has always been the backbone of the construction industry in the Industrialised Building System (IBS). Previous researchers often obtain data and opinions from the perspective of construction professionals and often neglect the labour workforce opinion. This study aims to investigate various factors that affect the workforce's productivity in IBS performance. The data collection amounts 60 targeted respondents. This study found a strong correlation between motivation, education, and workforce skill level that affects productivity in implementing IBS. The resolution is to propose an improvement of monetary incentive and academic level of the workforce. Malaysia considers the construction industry as one of the main contributors to its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, there are some unresolved issues arising from the ongoing and widespread adoption of the conventional method of construction such as the resultant fragmentation of the industry itself; delays in production and delivery time of unnecessary wastages and lack of sustainability practice. Malaysian Government has been continuously encouraging the industry to use, partly or if not wholly, the Industrialized Building System (IBS), which is considered to be an important part of sustainable construction initiative. IBS was introduced to Malaysia as the solution to issues related to dependencies of foreign workers, raising demand for affordable accommodations and improving image, quality and productivity of construction industry. However, the IBS adoption in Malaysia remains low. This paper presents the review of the current issues and barriers of IBS adoption in Malaysian construction industry.

Rapid economic growth and limited availability of affordable land have restricted the horizontal mode of construction leading to vertical construction in most of the Indian cities. Urban India is mostly marked by tall buildings that are being built. Due to the economic slowdown and some governmental interventions, these building projects are seeing significant time and cost overrun, ultimately impacting the end-user. As these market pressures rise more and more, real estate developers are considering to adopt emerging technologies to compensate for these construction issues. Indian construction industry is undergoing a paradigm shift from traditional methods of construction to modern methods of construction. Precast technology is one such move which is expected to enhance the productivity of the construction process, thereby, optimizing the requirement of resources on the site, reducing waste generation and resulting in a faster delivery of the projects. While internationally precast technology is considered as a mature technology, in India, it is not widely utilized, despite the advantages. Commonly cited constraints are high costs in comparison to traditional construction, economies of scale, logistics, skill level required, end user friendliness, etc. Primarily, this study focusses on identifying the challenges faced by the precast technology under various categories. This study also presents a cost analysis model for precast technology versus traditional construction to address some of the challenges. Presented cost model is applied to two projects wherein precast technology and conventional technology are utilized to construct the project and an inference is drawn comparing the time and cost aspects of precast technology. Amicable solutions are proposed for adoption of precast construction from an Indian perspective.

This paper contribute towards factors of delay as a whole in Malaysian construction sector by application of Industrialized Building System (IBS). Similarly to other developed countries, Malaysia getting benefits through returns from construction industry, as identified through Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, there are still some issues in the IBS construction industry to overcome until the time and cost performance plunged to reduce. The focus of this study is to inquire factors in delay issue which involves series of people which act as project stakeholders particularly in Malaysian Industrialized Building System. A number of factors causing delay to construction project in IBS are found by previous study. The prominent factors of delay in IBS are poor expertise to engage with unpleasant situation during handling IBS project, lack of communication between stakeholders, ineffective team alliance, poor client behavior, poor financial management and external factor. Study regarding delay issue with IBS adoption in foreign countries such as United States and China was progressively conducted. In Malaysia, a survey towards establishment and development of IBS has been conducted. It can be concluded that IBS project faces numerous challenges to be implement resulting in the delay. However, very few studies have been attempted on the factors causing time delay. Therefore, this paper will focus on factor which contribute into delay in Malaysian IBS project.

The construction sector based on industry or Industrialised Building System (IBS) is a method of construction using the industrialized building materials at the manufacturing plant. This method can replace the conventional method and is able to; reduces the amount of foreign labor, improve the quality of construction, lower the cost, and reduce construction time. This study is intended to create a guideline that can be used to encourage all private construction projects in the Klang Valley to implement the IBS System in 2015. Therefore, this study was undertaken to assess the level of IBS usage in the building construction. There are about 400 private sector projects in the Klang Valley that have been identified (or taken) as a sample for this study out of which 184 private projects are using IBS technology; achieving ed a score of over 55%. The findings of this study was to identify the perceptions, barriers that exist and the measures to be taken in the implementation and the criteria for developing a business model that can be used as a model concept of IBS in the private sector.
