This article aims to analyze the concepts and relationships of the Triple Helix Model (THM) proposed by Etzkowitz & Leydesdorff as applied to international security and defense and the contribution of THM to the development of knowledge-based economies. The method used was a qualitative, descriptive analysis, reviewing reliable scientific sources a...

... of these great technological changes was produced by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) through the United States Department of Defense. The ARPA was made up of about 200 high-level scientists and had a large budget and was focused on creating direct communications between computers to connect the different research bases through the 'ARPANET' Network (see Figure 2. ARPANET Network 1971) connecting universities, private research centers and state entities. ...

-The research proposes the analysis of technology management and innovation model, from the experience of twenty Colombian researchers, from a Research, Development and Innovation Centre related to aerospace and defence issues, such as, objective of RDI in defence, the ideation process, the process of developing science, technology and innovation (STI) projects, the organizational structure for RDI, the availability of public and private resources, the project financing process, the corporate willingness to adopt technologies, the support process for the technologies developed and the transfer of results were reviewed. The research was developed under the qualitative method, carrying out a descriptive and non-experimental analysis under an empirical phenomenological design, using interviews as a research instrument. As a result, it was possible to identify parameters to enhance and improve RDI capabilities in aerospace defence projects and generate a spillover effect on other actors, identifying relevant aspects to strengthen.
The strategic actions that are being developed from the Ecuadorian universities, are heading towards the linking of innovative factors under an interrelated scheme known as Triple Helix, whose intention is framed in connecting entrepreneurship, using knowledge and society as a platform, generating a model sustainable development between university-state-business. The objective of this research is to show the relationship between university-company-state with entrepreneurial research through the triple helix functional model, with a view to innovative potentializing that serves as a boost to socioeconomic progress. The research approach is qualitative at a descriptive level, using a hermeneutical review focused on entrepreneurship studies, business and university alliances, government plans and the triple helix theory. The results indicate that scientific research based on the triple helix method should be strengthened, the main obstacles being lack of communication, business disinterest and distorted state policies. The Ecuadorian universities UEM, UTB and UEB must make concerted efforts so that the investigations are directed towards the true social needs of each area. The conclusions indicate that the links of the triple helix model lead to socioeconomic strengthening through the development of research and scientific projects, without neglecting technological advances.
