[6] : Comparison of the measured radiation with respect to estimated radiation from the model of Tanré et al with three different aerosol types and visibility recorded locally at the stations. The diagonal line represents the reference where radiation from the measurement is equal to radiation from the model.

Detailed information about solar radiation availability at any location is essential for the design and economic evaluation of solar energy systems. Satellite data is used by researchers to estimate solar radiation where long term measured data are not available. This paper reviews the HELIOSTAT method, the DLR method for direct normal irradiance a...

Journal of Research in Engineering & Applied Sciences 1867 http://www.euroasiapub.org Figure 1 [5] shows the estimated values of direct irradiance computed using HELIOSTAT METHOD and DLR method, compared with ground measured data. From fig. 1 it is observed that DLR method slightly overestimates the direct irradiance and hence the scatter of DLR method is more dispersed. On the other hand the values derived using HELIOSAT method is slightly below the ground data. From Figure 2, it is observed that the physical model provides a convenient way to map solar radiation in tropical environment characterized by high spatial and temporal variability in humidity and high levels of ...

The effect of the annular solar eclipse of September 1 2016 on meteorological parameters at Anyigba, Nigeria is examined. Parameters examined include the surface air temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, soil temperature, solar radiation, and relative humidity. Meteorological data were obtained from a TRODAN station equipped with Campbell...

Estimation and forecast of groundwater recharge and capacities of aquifers are essential issues in water resource investigation. In the current research, groundwater recharge and the recharge coefficient were determined through a case study using empirical methods applicable to the tropical zones. The related climatological data between January 198...

Studying the behaviour of the sea surface temperature (SST) is important in the examination of many oceanographic activities. The variations in the SST are mainly controlled by atmospheric conditions. However, other physical parameters are also impacting on these variations, e.g. solar radiation, relative humidity, water depth, groundwater inflow a...

Rajasthan Sun Technique Energy Pvt. Ltd. has implemented a 125 MW large-scale grid connected concentrated solar thermal power project in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan, India. This manuscript is a critical evaluation of the design and construction of raw water reservoir liner system at the concentrated solar thermal power plant. The initial liner consisted (from bottom to top) of compacted earth, sand layer, HDPE liner, cement plaster and a PCC layer. The initial liner failed and caused the intrusion of saline ground water into the raw water reservoir and seepage loss of fresh water into the surroundings, prior to the commencement of its intended function. To mitigate the above problems, the designer proposed a rectification scheme, which was also found to be ineffective. The present study elaborates on reasons that caused the malfunctioning of the above liner system. Finally, remedial measures that were proposed to rectify the problems have been discussed, in detail.
