Does anyone have or know where to find the variation of biogas production by food waste? I would like to know the difference (in termi of biogas production) between waste produced in summer time and waste produced in winter time.

By computation how to find out the carbohydrate molecules which have catalytic activity?

I'm using Psychtoolbox for Matlab for presenting visual stimuli. I need to change the visual stimuli according to a serial trigger received from another computer. The serial input is provided by the Signal (CED) software installed in the other PC. Since this study involves non invasive stimulation (TMS) of Brain, timing of visual stimulus is very important. I'm pretty new to Psychtoolbox and I have read about 'KbName' feature of the Psychtoolbox which receives key presses of the subject and changes the visual stimulus according to the key press. I'm looking for a similar kind of solution. If anyone had faced a similar situation in Psychtoolbox please help me out.

I have been trying to generate a Saccharomyces cerevisiae disruption strain using standard PCR amplicfication of the HIS3 cassette followed by recombination at the gene of interest. This is a standard technique used in our lab, however my target gene of interest has a special feature which I have not come across in case of the other genes we have worked with. This target gene sequence is mentioned as 'oriented with respect to the Crick (bottom) strand' on SGD as well as on Pubmed, and appears to be trasncribed in the opposite direction in comparison to majority of other genes. Keeping this in mind, I had designed primers of opposite orientation compared to usual so that the HIS3 gene will be transcribed from the same gene's promoter, allowing me to select the recombinants . However, even though I am getting the PCR product with ease, I do not get any recombinants following transformation. Does anyone have any experience with such a gene? How do I go about designing the appropriate primers which will allow the recombination of the HIS3 cassette downstream of the target gene's promoter sequence?

What does the concept of available water holding capacity mean to you, and how do you measure it. This seemingly simple question hides some complexity, i had always considered that it referred to the water content at field capacity, which I assume to equal the soil retained in an intact core at -10 kPa or -100 cm suction. Ive read in the literature a number of other meanings, including maximum or saturated water content, difference in soil water between field capacity and the permanent wilting point....what i would refer to as the plant available water content (PAWC), ive also seen it described as the water content after soil had drained over 24 hours with an atmospheric lower boundary. What do you do....and how do you measure it......do you know any interesting references on the issue. Thanks Marcus
