Primary particle size can be tracked by a number of techniques such as TEM, micro-Raman and EXAFS (of course, if you go to a synchrotron, XRD-PDF can be rather useful). Secondary (aggregate) particle size is usually analyzed with the help of TEM and SEM. The combination of techniques can give a more or less complete "morphological" answer.

Rejected papers are not naturally sub-standard, rather they may not fit into the current publication policy of a journal. The author of a useful paper may have run out of time (moving to another institution, lacking resources) to rewrite it. Therefore, I am fond of Alessandro's idea, which RG has already been implemented, to use a last resort for such papers. So how difficult do you think it would be for Java 9 to remove the primitive types from the language and only use the wrapper classes? Or remove the wrapper classes, and turn the primitive types into classes (and live with the inconsistency of having 8 standard class names begin with lower case letters)?

Without thinking about the quantity one should do quality work. That should be a novel work. It doesn't matter whether the paper will be published in high IF or low IF journal, but the number of citation matters. And this depends upon the quality of works.
