  Does anyone know a well documented WSN simulator/emulator?

  I'm working on a WSN Security project.Basically what I'm trying to do is to implement a secret key generation algorithm, and run this algorithm in an emulator/simulator. I've done some research andI'm working on a WSN Security project.Basically what I'm trying to do is to implement a secret key generation algorithm, and run this algorithm in an emulator/simulator. I've done some research and have found quite a few WSN emulators/simulators out there, but all are poorly documented (and this is the case where you find some sort of official documentation). Now comes my question: Does anyone know an emulator/simulator for WSN that you had some experience with and that could run my code? [edit] So at first what i want to do is to simulate some kind of encrypted message exchange between two nodes (something really simple), and run on each node an encryption/decryption + key generation algorithm. And i plan to make things more complicated step by step.

  nodes movement in NS-2

  I am using NS-2 for creating a mobile node . actually those nodes are Wireless Sensor Nodes created by mannasim. My scenario as the following: a mobile node will move between 4 places and wait forI am using NS-2 for creating a mobile node . actually those nodes are Wireless Sensor Nodes created by mannasim. My scenario as the following: a mobile node will move between 4 places and wait for some time and it issues 4 move commandes like set_destination(new_x,new_y,SPEED); set_destination(new_x1,new_y1,SPEED); set_destination(new_x2,new_y2,SPEED); set_destination(new_x3,new_y3,SPEED); from C++ code. this pices of code allow a node to move from its current location to new_x and new_y location at speed of SPEED value However just when the last command was executed, it didn't allow the previous ones to finish. So the mobile node will got to new_x3 and new_y3. So my question is how we can wait until reaching the first place before moving to the next one? In othe words, how we can know that the mobile node has reached one desination and the event was successfully finished? Thanks

Please suggest which simulatore allows to modify the route calculation algorithm in OLSR. At phy i want to use 802.11 in adhoc mode. May be I am a bit confused in my concepts.     Yes, there is a lot of interest in this topic, plenty of people to speak to, however wireless is so new that there are always room for innovation. Focus on what you can bring to the table. There are plenty of proprietary tools that can do IDS such as Dell Sonicwall. However, I have yet to see a good open-source tool. The question of how can a great idea lead to a standard might be interesting. Take a look at Tinyos, a wireless open-source miniature operating system that can be expanded with functionality. Have fun.

If your goal is power reduction (e.g. extending battery life), you should know that many short-range radios consume more power while receiving than while transmitting, so any power-aware protocol needs to take that into consideration.

    In a lab, yes, the value are correct, but it also depends on how the WSN are configured as mention above. In many large real world deployment latency can grow a lot. Thats why I agree what Theodore Omtzigt say, (if possible) don't tell. Let the system expect much larger delay to make plenty of room for whatever delay it will be. For example, how long will the latency be if you get some topology changes or outage? The system should be able to handle such case. Don't trust the network, it has its fault and need some 'freedom' to live its life. Low delay require better control over the WSN, thats all.

  I have to place sensors at a distance of around 500m. With zigbee (802.15.4) it is difficult to communicate between nodes can 802.11 be used.

  I am able to run the simulator using 802.11 for this distance but for 802.15.4 the energy consumption is high. The way it broadcast is also peculiar and the energy consumption is high
