I have particularly found it to be a good platform for sharing scientific information among colleagues in the same area of research interest. Furthermore, it is like a platform without barrier on which there is cross-linking of ideas from south to north and east to west. It is particularly useful for scientists from developing countries to rob mind with their counterparts from advanced countries without any hindrance.

É a melhor porque é a que tem mais pessoas. Ainda que Zotero, Mendeley, Academia.edu, CiteULike tentam o mesmo, só ResearchGate cria as condições para criar conhecimento mediante as redes criadas.

Mainstream academic publishing has come around to the conclusion that the traditional model works very well -- given antiquated modes of printing & distribution.

I regard ResearchGate as among the most successful experiments employing today's communication technology. It has been said that the real action at scholarly conferences takes place outside the lecture rooms, in informal talks going on in the hallways. It seems to me that venues like RG open up a kind of infinite hallway which also offers built-in memory, search functions, and address books.

Given the history of Utopian predictions, I am leery of notions like those found in the Singularity community, but it seems a safe bet that being able to talk about our ideas rapid-fire will continue to hasten progress.

I like the level of engagement with other similar scientist who share similar interest both in listening and sharing ideas/perspectives.

Recién estoy comenzando. No puedo agregarte mucho, pero en principio, permite interactuar con colegas de todo el mundo con los mismos intereses, organizar estudios e investigaciones en grupo, aún de manera virtual, realizar publicaciones, entre otras cosas. Saludos.
