  Quality of life after ICU

  Are there any reliable studies on quality of life post ICU admission; are there long term effects occurring at significant amounts? What are the parameters measure in these studies?

    We've been looking at QOL following AKI in intensive care. The attached article is a good prospective study from France with a table summarising the literature at the end.

    Hi I believe that LMW heparin is the best. However, If the patient is Child C grade with high risk bleeding tendency, with high MELD score or associated with HCC on top of liver cirrhosis this willHi I believe that LMW heparin is the best. However, If the patient is Child C grade with high risk bleeding tendency, with high MELD score or associated with HCC on top of liver cirrhosis this will carry a high risk of bleeding and better to indvidualize the decision for each patient.

    I agree with the contributors on need for early trach. Our practice is based on anticipated length of stay on the vent and co-morbid issues.
