    The challenge in formulating a new model for breast cancer has not only been to derive a molecular mechanism for BC also to attempt to accommodate at least the essential elements of the existing,The challenge in formulating a new model for breast cancer has not only been to derive a molecular mechanism for BC also to attempt to accommodate at least the essential elements of the existing, somatic mutation, aneuploidy, mitochondrial, epigenetic and tissue field models, all of which have significant support in the literature based upon the empirical evidence, but appear to be mutually exclusive, none satisfactorily explaining the the extensive experimental and clinical phenomenology associated with the disease. I am an experimental oncologist not a clinician but I did have one patient, my first wife Glenna who was diagnosed with BC at the age of 27 while I was in graduate school. When she died 4 years later I made her a promise that I would spend the rest of my life trying to figure out the mechanism for a disease that would take the life of an otherwise healthy young woman. The model of BC I am posting here is an attempt to keep that promise I made over 30 years ago. The model was given in preliminary form as a poster at the 11th International Conference on Early Breast Cancer in St Gallen CH in 2009.
