  Considering three replicates, is possible than the error is bigger than differences?

Watch the composition of each sample that follows your report on the earlier one. Some operators, especially the smaller business houses- looking for University lab evaluations- neglect to report "minor" alterations in the samples sent. Often, they omit a solvent or buffer or even add an ingredient- without even a twinkle in their eye- so long as an MIC/MBC number is available. Good for product development but not for the reputation of the reporting lab!.

  For newly synthesized antimicrobial compounds (with small molecular weight), is it better to describe MIC values in µg/mL or µM?

  Someone told me that µg/mL is inaccurate.

    If you know the molecular weight of your compound it is better to express both MIC and MBC in µM, if you don't know then we can report as µg/ml.

I am doing Fmoc chemistry and i cleave my peptoid with TFA cleavage cocktail consisting of 95%TFA, 2.5% triisopropylsilane and 2.5% water. The problem is that upon addition of this cocktail the solution should turn red as an indication to a successful cleavage. Unfortunately mine does not and i am using the same chemicals as int he protocol and same volumes. IF i use TFA and water only i get the red color but in presence of TIPS which is a scavenger i dont get it. So have anybody experienced something similar or ? thanks

  I am working on antimicrobial resistance . I tried the isolation of the bacteria plasmid using a lysis method but i'm unable to recover the plasmid by heat lysis. What do you think is the most likely reason; should I first use another lysosome, change the concentration or use another detergent on the side?

    I am using the lysosyme at the conc. Of 5mg/ml and incubated it for 1 hr heat at 100 c for 15 minute.

  Color changes of antibiotic stocks of Ceftriaxone and Ceftazidime from transparent to yellow and orange. Does anyone know the reason for this?

  I have made the stocks of both antibiotics of conc. 100 ug/ml, dispensed aliquots in fresh eppendorfs by syringe and stored them at -20C. Gradually their color starts changing from transparent toI have made the stocks of both antibiotics of conc. 100 ug/ml, dispensed aliquots in fresh eppendorfs by syringe and stored them at -20C. Gradually their color starts changing from transparent to pale yellow. And after about 2 months, their color is now rich yellow and orange. Dont know the reason. The antibiotics were of good quality company (Forget the names) but they were expensive, sealed and bought from a reputed medical store in the city. Can anybody tell me what has happened? Are they functional now or not ?

    Mostly cefarotoxime & cefatizamide are made in powder form & while injecting they were mixed with aq sol in order to prevent oxidation so while doing invitro studies use fresh solution

    I personally prefer the use of well diffusion method, because it is quantitative as pointed out earlier.

    use HPTLC if TLC is not working ar try to fractionate by extracting your extracts with different solvents then make a TLC for each fraction
