How it was correct using human manure as fertilizer instead of chemical fertilizers? Which countries following that?

Perhaps you have forgotten late Prime Minister Moraji Desai who used to drink his own urine in the morning considering it as tonic containing vitamins, minerals etc. without thinking that these are discarded by body after absorbing the required amount. This habit of him gave fodder to the imagination of poets that one considering his long age said he did not know that water of life (aab-e-hayat/amrit) was so near. Chemical fertilisers are harmful to environment especially nitrogenous ones as having negative ions nitrogen is leached to groundwater causing nitrate contamination of it and nutrient rich runoff from fields etc. causes eutrophication of waterbodies and negatively bears on the health and life of aquatic ecosystems.

If one can use cow dung etc. what difference human refuse makes when after disintegration into useable minerals and nutrients it is taken up by plants. It is better because compared to fertilisers manures always release nutrients slowly and waste is minimised. Moreover, it is basic principle of sustainability that whatever is removed from an ecosystem (agroecosystem) should be returned for its stability.

Hi Kumar, this link might address some of your questions. I am working on human urine as a fertilizer.

Maybe not human manure, but there are many composed municipal sludge products used in the US. Milorganite is a good example. http://www.milorganite.com/about/
