very good question, I think it would certainly help. As they say 'the eye cannot see what the mind does not know'. Knowing learning styles (Coffields categories) and theory (orientation to learning - ?behaviourist, ?cognitivist?, Humanist?, ?Social/situational) will certainly help students find their best learning strategies that suit their study habits/ own resources (Gardner Multiple intelligences) and assist teachers to make the best of the teaching session and achieve reach higher levels of learning (Bloom taxonomy).

Teaching is by far about ones love for the subject and for teaching.. Essentially how good any one is as a teacher does not depend entirely on full time teaching or practice.. each bring an entirely different set of values to the table. Full time teachers can dedicate their time entirely to the students and updating themselves however we are teaching students to become doctors and not necessarily teachers so the real life experience of practitioners is also a valuable contribution.

What you are looking for may be difficult to find since you will need to look outside of the universities. Personally, I spent 4 years in the educational field in East Africa working with both refugee children and adults. There was never any shortage of scholars who showed up for a month or a few weeks and left to go write a book (believing themselves to now be experts).

Greetings to all. Yes, monitoring is critical - there must be follow-up and need to see any replanning (goals and actions/ corrections to be rehatched) needs to be done, PDCA must be applied. Weak teaching/ educational institutions normally fail and students' needs are not fulfilled/ met when there is no follow-up and monitoring - then it becomes mere talks of standards and requirements but alas, it is empty.

Yes, thank you for answering my question. I agree that the vessel of a program - how it is administered has a large effect on student success and outcomes. Ideally, an education program is protected by a solid and consistent administrative structure- on the outside - so that within the program there can be movement, risk and experimentation on behalf of students and teachers. Education needs to flow, and that flow requires some outside protective structures.

Desde mi punto de vista, la retroalimentación debería de lograrse por ambos mecanismos. La primera como parte de la necesidad de fortalecer el carácter científico de la docencia (parte de la investigación educativa; me atrae seguir directamente a las cohortes) y la segunda, exponiéndose a organismos externos. Una prueba nacional, una agencia, serían formas para cumplir con lo segundo. En este último tiempo me ha tocado preparar cursos de capacitación a colegas de servicios de salud. Entre los colegas veo a ex-alumnos y, de algún modo, me retroalimento de esa situación para evaluar su participación, competencias diagnósticas y terapéuticas; a la vez, los comparo con los otros colegas de otras generaciones y formados en otras instituciones. En ese mismo contexto, soy el "tercero" que evalúo a los colegas.
