    ABSTRACT: A simplified diffusion model is given in the present paper to represent the chloride diffusion in porous concrete. The model with appropriate effective diffusion coefficient is shown to represent equally well as the more complex diffusion/reaction model proposed by Pereira and Hegedus.4 However the present model has the main advantages of being amenable to an analytic solution and ease of model parameter estimation.

    ABSTRACT: Ozonation kinetics of iron and manganese in aqueous solution is experimentally investigated. The effects of pH, initial ion concentration and the ozone dosage on the kinetic rate parameters are examined. It has been found that ozonation of those ions in general follows zero order kinetics.

    ABSTRACT: A concentration-dependent dye diffusion model is extended in the present study to represent adsorptive dyeing systems. It is a revision of the previous one by incorporating the effect of external mass transfer resistance and concentration dependence of diffusion coefficient on the dye's diffusion process. The theoretical predictions using the extended model show excellent agreement with the observed data, significantly better than that of the previous one. It is also found that an adsorption equilibrium is achieved under most operating conditions due primarily to the fact that the dye diffusion within the pores is a considerably slower process than the dye adsorption.
