The complete sequence of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) OX strain was acquired by RT-PCR. Then all regions of OX strain genome were compared with those of the reference strains which sequences were obtained from GenBank > and their genetic characteristic were analyzed by molecular biological software. As a result, the genome of FMDV OX strain is 8 104nt without poly(C) and poly (A), and is composed of 5'untranslated region (UTR), open-reading frame (ORF) and 3'untranslated region (UTR), their nucleotide is 1 040nt, 6 969nt and 95nt respectively. The OX strain has the most homologous with OTWyl/97 and there are two distinct genetic deletions in function-unknown region and 3A encoding region, one is a 30nt sequential deletion in 3A encoding region which is same as OTWyl/97 strain, the other is a 44nt sequential deletion in unknown-functional region which is same as OTWyl/97 strain and similar to OAkesu58 (43nt deletion) strain.
