ABSTRACT: A compact multiband internal antenna has been proposed for multistandard personal communication handsets. The antenna simultaneously covers various frequency bands such as GSM, DCS, PCS, UMTS, WiBro, Bluetooth, S-DMB, and WLAN. Total volume of the antenna is 0.78 cm3 (2.6 cm × 1.5 cm × 0.2 cm) that makes it attractive for multiband slim handsets. Measured performances of the prototype antenna are acceptable at all the targeted frequency bands. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
