Article: Magnetoresistance and electroresistance of highly resistive states in thin nonhomogeneous La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 films
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The magnetoresistive and electroresistive properties of thin nonhomogeneous La 0.67 Ca 0.33 MnO 3 films have been investigated after thermocycling from 200 to 80 K. Highly resistive states with an additional low temperature resistance peak near 95 K were revealed in the films using probe currents as low as 1 μ A . The film resistance at the peak is sensitive to the probe current strength and the applied magnetic field. The highly resistive state is metastable and is associated with the formation of martensitic inclusions during the thermocycling. The exhibition of memory effects during the cooling also suggests the idea of the presence of martensitic-type transformations.Applied Physics Letters 12/2009; · 3.84 Impact Factor -
Article: Effect of Composition Variations on Electrical and Optical Properties of La1−x(Ca, Sr)xMnO3 Thin Films
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Thin films of La 0.67 Ca 0.33 MnO 3+ (d 200 nm) grown at 750 C on MgO(100) substrates by pulsed laser deposition were annealed in various oxygen atmospheres. The LaF 3 , CaF 2 and Mn overlayers (d 5-10 nm) have been evaporated onto the films in order to saturate the compound by La, Ca or Mn during subsequent annealing at 900 C in air. Further, the pulsed injection CVD method has been utilized to prepare series of La 1–x Sr x MnO 3 films with x = 00.5 on LaAlO 3 (100). The effect of composition variations on electrical resistivity and magnetoresistance of the films as well as on their optical transmission and reflection spectra in the energy range between 0.2 and 4.0 eV has been investigated.Journal of Low Temperature Physics 11/1999; 117(5):1659-1663. · 1.19 Impact Factor -
Article: Effect of strains on electrical and optical properties of thin La 0.67Ca0.33MnO3 films
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Thin films of La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (LCMO) (d=15–200 nm) were grown epitaxially at 750°C under oxygen pressure of 20–25 Pa on lattice-matched NdGaO3 (1 0 0), LaAlO3 (1 0 0), SrTiO3 (1 0 0) and SrTiO3 (1 1 0) using pulsed laser deposition. Highly oriented LCMO (1 0 0) films have been additionally prepared on MgO (1 0 0) substrate. Asymmetric (grazing incidence) X-ray diffraction revealed various strain states appearing in a film plane under biaxial compressive stress (LaAlO3) and tensile stress (SrTiO3 (1 0 0) and SrTiO3 (1 1 0)). Existence of nonuniform strains was found for the films grown on MgO crystal exhibiting the largest lattice mismatch. The paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition temperature, Tp, found from resistivity measurements increased with film thickness. Measurements of optical transmission and reflectance revealed a strain-dependent absorption band at 1.2–1.4 eV. The slightly higher Tp values indicated for the LCMO (1 1 0)/STO (1 1 0) films compared to those of similar LCMO (1 0 0)/STO (1 0 0) layers have been explained taking into account different textures related to a slightly distorted (orthorhombic) LCMO crystal when grown epitaxially on different planes of cubic SrTiO3.Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials 211:35-40. · 1.78 Impact Factor
