    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: In this paper, we propose a new architecture for improving the efficiency of specialized vertical search engine based on GPGPUs (General-purpose Graphics Processing Unit), so that the efficiency of information retrieval can be improved. The advantages of GPGPUs in programmability, high parallel processing ability, and floating-point computing power, etc. are utilized in the new architecture. Thus the CPU usage can be reduced and the efficiency of the search engine can be improved. Experiments show that a platform based on the proposed architecture has significantly higher efficiency.

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: We present a new algorithm for exact multiple string matching. Our algorithm is based on filtration combining BNDM and q-grams. We have tested it with experiments and compared it with other algorithms, e.g. DFA, AC_BM and MWM. The preprocessing phase of our algorithms is fast, the memory usage is fairly small, and our algorithm is considerably faster for huge sets of several thousand patterns. The benefits are due to the bit parallelism of BNDM and the improved filtering efficiency by q-grams.

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Many trends are opening up the era of cloud computing, which will reshape the IT industry. Virtualization techniques have become an indispensable ingredient for almost all cloud computing system. By the virtual environments, cloud provider is able to run varieties of operating systems as needed by each cloud user. Virtualization can improve reliability, security, and availability of applications by using consolidation, isolation, and fault tolerance. In addition, it is possible to balance the workloads by using live migration techniques. In this paper, the definition of cloud computing is given; and then the service and deployment models are introduced. An analysis of security issues and challenges in implementation of cloud computing is identified. Moreover, a system-level virtualization case is established to enhance the security of cloud computing environments. KeywordsCloud Computing-Security-Virtualization Techniques-Issues-Challenges

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: ACE is a freely available, open-source object-oriented framework that implements many core design patterns for concurrent communication software. ACE provides reusable C++ wrappers, frameworks and real-time ORB available for most operating systems. In this paper, we introduce the functionality of ACE components, design an effective and portable IPC platform framework based on ACE middleware and implement the IPC platform system in C++. Eventually, we test our IPC platform, compare it with the non-ACE system and conclude its advantages and drawbacks.

  • Conference Proceeding: An Anonymous Attestation Scheme in Inter-domain Environment with Enhanced Security
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: In this paper, we point out the deficiencies of the existing DAA schemes on member revocation, inter-domain attestation and Rudolph's attack prevention and present a new scheme called Enhanced Privacy Inter-domain Anonymity Attestation based on Peer-to-Peer Networks. We add a new party called Trusted Auditor (TA) and construct a TA level above the existing DAA scheme. Analysis shows that the proposed model is feasible and that not only the security of the model is enhanced, but also inter-domain attestation is facilitated. Simulation results show that the scheme makes great improvement in member revocation and other security issues.

  • Conference Proceeding: A Dependability Model to Enhance Security of Cloud Environment Using System-Level Virtualization Techniques
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Security of cloud computing is one of the challenges to be addressed before the novel pas-as-you-go business model is widely applied, and dependability is one of the most important means to improve security of current heterogeneous cloud platforms. Previous research on dependability in computing systems only uses qualitative approaches and there are few systematic works on dependability in cloud systems. In this paper, the definition of dependability in cloud systems is given and a series of quantitative indicators are presented to evaluate the dependability. A novel cloud dependability model CDSV is established to enhance the security of heterogeneous cloud environments. System-level virtualization techniques are used to enhance the dependability of cloud environments. Systematic analysis shows that this model can enhance the system dependability and security. Experimental results show that the dependability model CDSV can efficiently and safely construct dependability relationship in heterogeneous cloud environments.

  • Article: The Adaptive Routing Algorithm Depending on the Traffic Prediction Model in Cognitive Networks
Jie Li, Xingwei Wang, Ruiyun Yu, Jie Jia
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: As a cognitive network is forward looking and gains from current and previous information on the network to achieve an intended goal, a routing algorithm, Minimum Workload Routing Algorithm (MWL) in cognitive networks, is proposed, which is depending on the prediction traffic model—MMSE to construct the prediction traffic matrix and select the route with the lightest traffic load which is no more than the traffic threshold. Further more, we extend the scheme of MWL and promote the adaptive traffic prediction routing algorithm (ATPRA) considering both traffic load and length load of the global route and adaptively selecting a route of the lowest aggregated load by adjusting the threshold of traffic. Comparing with the pure shortest routing algorithm, MWL and ATPRA have good performances at decreasing delay, lowing packet loss rate, load balancing and avoiding the congestion, which is validated by the simulation.

  • Conference Proceeding: Efficient Nash equilibrium based cloud resource allocation by using a continuous double auction
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: To allocate cloud resources efficiently and obtain the maximum economic benefit are the major goals of the cloud resource providers and users. The objective of this paper is to present a novel cloud resource allocation algorithm named NECDA to overcome some of the shortcomings of the current mechanisms. A cloud resource allocation model of m*n type based on M/M/1 queuing system is established first. Then the Nash equilibrium mode is applied in the cloud computing among m*n allocation environment, the optimization objective of each allocation is performance-QoS and economic-QoS, and the Nash equilibrium is achieved by taking advantage of the continuous double auction in each step, each provider agent determines its requested value based on its workload, and each user agent determines its bid value based on the remaining time and resources. By simulations, we conclude that the NECDA is more suited to cloud computing environments and can better meet the QoS requirements of users.

  • Conference Proceeding: Optimizing grid resource allocation by combining fuzzy clustering with application preference
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Focusing on the problem of resource allocation under large-scale, distributed, autonomous, heterogeneous and dynamic environments in grid computing, a heuristic algorithm combining fuzzy clustering with application preference is proposed. Fuzzy clustering method is applied according to a group of features, which describe the user's application preference, to realize reasonable pre-classification resource. Then a resource is chosen according to the synthetic evaluation value, which can make the user's target utility maximized. There is no need to search every resource at each scheduling step. Therefore, the cost on choosing the resource to execute the current task is reduced significantly. Experimental results show that the bigger the target system, the more efficient the algorithm is, and the more satisfactorily the application preferences of users are met. Furthermore, since resources are classified by different application preferences, this method can also avoid heavy loads concentrating on only a few resources so as to improve load balance in grid environments.

  • Article: An Improvement to the Chord-Based P2P Routing Algorithm
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Chord has been widely used as a routing protocol in structured peer-to-peer overlay networks. A fundamental problem of peer-to-peer applications is to efficiently locate the node that stores a particular data item. In fact, performance of structured peer-to-peer overlay networks depends on the routing protocols. The original Chord routing protocol based on DHT uses Finger Table to route. However, in the original model, there is redundancy information in the Finger Table. This paper analyzes the routing algorithm of Chord protocol and presents an improvement strategy of original Chord routing algorithm. Results from theoretical analysis and experiments show that the routing performance of structured Chord-based overlay networks is improved.
