Article: Numerical analysis of a model for nickel–iron alloy electrodeposition on rotating disk electrode

ABSTRACT: To understand the nickel–iron electrodeposition process better, we have developed a one-dimensional numerical model. This model addresses dissociation, diffusion, electromigration, convection and deposition of multiple ion species. The reaction mechanism in this model differs in that Ni2+ and Fe2+ are the electroactive species and NiOH+ and FeOH+ are not involved whatsoever. Taking account of the anisotropic behaviour of the solution we introduce a domain decomposition numerical method. Simulations with experimental data show that our model can predict characteristic features of the nickel–iron system.International Journal of Computer Mathematics. 10/2008; 85(10):1531-1549. -
