The maximum output power is 702 mW when the incident pump power is 2.53 W, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 27.7% and a slope efficiency of 37.0%.Chinese Optics Letters 07/2011; 9(7):071403-071403. · 0.97 Impact Factor -
Article: Dual-wavelength passively mode-locked Nd:LuYSiO5 laser with SESAM.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: A diode-end-pumped dual-wavelength mode-locked laser based on Nd:LuYSiO5 crystal is demonstrated. With a SESAM, simultaneous mode locking at the 1075.8 nm and 1078.1 nm is achieved and the dual-wavelength mode locked pulses have a pulse width of 8.9 ps. Due to frequency beating, ultrahigh repetition rate ultrafast pulses with 997 fs pulse width and 0.59 THz repetition rate are further formed. Under 12.7 W absorbed pump power 1.7 W mode-locked output power was obtained, the slope efficiency of the mode locked laser was 24.3%.Optics Express 02/2011; 19(5):3984-9. · 3.59 Impact Factor -

The corresponding slope efficiency and optical to optical efficiency were 70 % and 59 % respectively. The laser mode-locked at 1041 nm, 1060 nm and 1077 nm with near Fourier transformed limited pulse width of 145 fs, 144 fs and 125 fs with average output power of 40 mW, 52 mW and 102 mW, respectively.Photonics Global Conference (PGC), 2010; 01/2011 -
Article: Spectral characterization and laser performance of a mixed crystal Nd:(LuxY1-x)3Al5O12.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: An Nd-doped Lu(1.5)Y(1.5)Al(5)O(12) (Nd:LuYAG) crystal was obtained by Czochralski method. Absorption and emission spectra were recorded at low and room temperature. Continuous wave (CW) and passively Q-switched laser operations of Nd:LuYAG crystal were, to our knowledge, demonstrated for the first time. A CW output power of 1.67 W with slope efficiency of 39.8% was obtained. In the passively Q-switched operation, the shortest pulse width, largest pulse energy, and highest peak power were achieved to be 9.6 ns, 61.7µJ, and 6.4 kW, respectively, with Cr(4+):YAG crystals as the saturable absorbers.Optics Express 09/2010; 18(20):21370-5. · 3.59 Impact Factor -
Article: Passive femtosecond mode-locking and cw laser performance of Yb3+: Sc2SiO5.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The authors report on the passive mode-locking and cw lasing performance of Yb3+: Sc(2)SiO(5) (Yb: SSO) in an x-fold cavity end-pumped by a 978 nm single emitter. The laser produced a maximum cw output power of 2.73 W with a slope efficiency of 70%. Passive mode-locking of Yb: SSO was initiated using a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) while dispersion compensation was introduced using a pair of SF10 prisms. The laser mode-locked at 1041 nm, 1060 nm and 1077 nm with near Fourier transformed limited pulse width of 145 fs, 144 fs and 125 fs, and average output power of 40 mW, 52 mW and 102 mW, respectively. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first demonstration of femtosecond mode-locking of Yb: SSO.Optics Express 08/2010; 18(16):16739-44. · 3.59 Impact Factor -
Article: High-power disordered Nd:CaYAlO(4)lasers at 1.08 microm.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: We demonstrate the high-power laser performance with a disordered Na:CaYAlO(4) crystal at a wavelength of about 1.08microm. Continuous-wave output power of 5.16W is achieved with a laser diode as the pump source. For the first time to our knowledge, the passively Q-switched Na:CaYAlO(4) laser is obtained with the maximum average output power of 2.39W, shortest pulse width of 5.7ns, and highest peak power of 15.47kW. By spectral analysis, the Nd:CaAlO(4) laser wavelength is centered at about 1.08microm. We propose that, by suitable tuning, the Na:CaYAlO(4) laser should be an excellent source for helium optical pumping.Optics Letters 08/2010; 35(15):2666-8. · 3.40 Impact Factor -
Article: Diode-pumped continuous wave and Q-switched operation of Nd:CaYAlO₄ crystal.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The continuous wave (CW) and passively Q-switched performances of Nd:CaYAlO(4) crystal with both a- and c-cut were demonstrated. The CW output powers of 1.15 W and 1.26 W were obtained under the pump power of 8.96 W with slope efficiencies of 15.2% and 16.8% for a- and c-cut samples, respectively. As a result, new dual-wavelength all-solid-state lasers at 1080 nm and 1081 nm were achieved with c-cut crystal. By using Cr(4+):YAG wafer as saturable absorber, we performed Q-switching experiments. The highest average output powers and shortest pulse widths were measured to be 0.798 W, 10.6 ns and 0.537 W, 9.6 ns for a- and c-cut samples, respectively.Optics Express 08/2010; 18(18):18649-54. · 3.59 Impact Factor -
Article: Investigation on upconversion luminescence in Yb3+/Er3+‐codoped Gd2SiO5 single crystal
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Yb3+/Er3+-codoped Gd2SiO5 (Yb,Er:GSO) single crystal was grown by the Czochralski method. The upconversion properties of the crystal under 940 nm excitation were investigated. Intense emission bands centered at 521, 548, and 652 nm corresponding to the transitions 2H11/2 → 4I15/2, 4S3/2 → 4I15/2, and 4F9/2 → 4I15/2 of Er3+, respectively, were observed at room temperature. The dependence of the intensity of the Er3+ emission on the pump power and possible upconversion mechanism were discussed and evaluated.Physica Status Solidi (A) Applications and Materials 09/2009; 207(2):432 - 435. · 1.46 Impact Factor -
Article: Crystal growth and spectroscopic properties of Yb:CaYAlO4 single crystal
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: A Yb3+-doped CaYAlO4 laser crystal has been grown by the Czochralski technique. The segregation coefficient was measured by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES). The cell parameters were analyzed with X-ray diffraction experiments. Color defects in Yb:CaYAlO4 have been evidenced to be similar to those in undoped CaYAlO4. The polarized absorption spectra and the fluorescence spectrum of the Yb:CaYAlO4 crystal were measured at room temperature. The fluorescence decay time of the Yb3+ ion was investigated. The results show that Yb:CaYAlO4 has potential as a laser gain medium for an ultrashort laser system.Journal of Crystal Growth 312(14):2117-2121. · 1.73 Impact Factor
