ABSTRACT: Between July and November 2010, the breeding site and mosquito species were studied during the severe flood in five different habitats in the study area. Three genera and four species of mosquito larvae were identified. The most abundant species was Anopheles gambiae(39.2%),followed by Aedes aegypti(25%),Culex quinquifasciatus(21.0%) and Anopheles funestus(14.8%).The most preferred breeding habitat was the Earthenwarepot while the least was the hoof marking.A lot of factors are responsible for selecting breeding sites. These factors are discussed herein with respect to their public health implications.Continental J.
