Conference Proceeding: Contradiction Finding and Minimal Recovery for UML Class Diagrams

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: UML (unified modeling language) is the de facto standard model representation language in software engineering. We believe that automated contradiction detection and repair of UML become very important as UML has been widely used. In this paper, we propose a debugging system using logic programming paradigm for UML class diagram with class attributes, multiplicity, generalization relation and disjoint relation. We propose a translation method of a UML class diagram into a logic program, and using a meta-interpreter we can find (set-inclusion-based) minimal sets of rules which leads to contradiction. Then, we use a minimal hitting set algorithm developed by one of the authors to show minimal sets of deletion of rules in order to avoid contradiction

Conference Proceeding: Structural, magnetic and thermoelectric properties of Delafossite-type oxide, CuCr1-xMgxO2(0⩽x⩽0.05)
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: We report structural, magnetic and high-temperature thermoelectric properties of Delafossite-type oxide, CuCr1-xMgxO 2 (0⩽ x ⩽0.05). Lattice parameter, c, linearly decreases with increasing Mg concentration in the range, 0⩽ x ⩽ 0.03. This decrease is mainly caused by the shrinking of O-Cu-O dumbbells which connect the CdI2-type (Cr/Mg)O2 slabs. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that Cr3+ is in the high spin state in the paramagnetic phase above 25 K. Electrical resistivity, ρ, of CuCr1-xMgxO2 exhibits semiconducting behavior (dρ/dT < 0) in the range from 350 K to 1100 K and becomes lower through the partial substitution of Mg 2+ for Cr3+ in 0 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.03. Due to positive Seebeck coefficients, S, of these oxides, it is natural to assume that the dominant charge carriers of CuCr1-xMgx O2 are positive holes. Experimental values of S at 1100 K have consistency with the theoretical values predicted from Koshibae's formula. From the linear S vs. lnσ plot, it is estimated that the observed power factor, S2σ, reaches the maximum value around x = 0.03 in this system. The thermal conductivity, κ, for CuCr1-xMgxO2 ranges from 6 to 10 W·m-1·-1 at 300 K. The maximum dimensionless figure of merit, ZT = S2T/ρκ, of the sample with x = 0.03 is 0.04 at 950 K

Conference Proceeding: Full-chip vectorless dynamic power integrity analysis and verification against 100uV/100ps-resolution measurement
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The advances in semiconductor manufacturing, EDA tools, and VLSI design technologies are enabling circuit designs with increasingly higher speed and density. However, this trend is causing the on-chip power distribution network to experience larger dynamic voltage fluctuations due to dynamic voltage drop, L di/dt noise, and/or LC resonance. As a result, the analysis of power-integrity, as well as the evaluation and calibration of the analysis methodology, has become a major challenge in designing high-performance circuits. An innovative vectorless dynamic power-ground noise analysis approach is discussed in this paper. This approach addresses full-chip complexity with transistor-level accuracy. This analysis approach demonstrated very good correlation with an on-chip supply noise measurement in 0.13-μm CMOS technology, capable of achieving 100 μV/100 ps resolution.

  • Conference Proceeding: 94-channel wavelength-selectable light source module with integrated multiwavelength locker
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: We have first reported on a 94-channel wide-band WSL installed in a 22-pin butterfly package with a multi-wavelength locker. We could realize 40-nm operation in the L-band for an 8-DFB arrayed monolithic WSL by covering 5 nm per DF3-LD. By using a monolithically integrated WSL and minimizing the number of components on the wavelength locker we could install all function in a 12.7-mm × 20.8-mm standard butterfly package. This WSL module with a stable-wavelength operation and uniform locking performance is a promising development to provide a large degree of flexibility in DWDM system design.

Conference Proceeding: Development of the movable mask free from trapped mode for the KEKB
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The movable mask is a device that cuts off spent electrons/positrons near the beam orbit and reduces background of the detector. For the KEKB, sixteen movable masks had been installed for each ring. The originally designed masks, however, had severe troubles of heating, arcing and vacuum leaks. Several kinds of improved masks had been designed partially employing RF technologies in dealing with HOM and were installed to the ring step by step. The latest masks are working almost as expected now. Here the problems of movable masks so far are summarized and the structure of the latest movable masks and their status are presented

Conference Proceeding: Present status and beam-stability issues of the KEKB injector linac
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The KEKB injector linac was completely upgraded for the KEK B-Factory (KEKB) project in March, 1998. Many difficulties have been overcome during the elaborate commissioning of the upgraded linac since the end of 1997. The 3.5-GeV positron and 8-GeV electron beams have been injected to the KEKB rings with good performance. Much effort has also been continuing to stabilize the intensity and quality of the beams. Some experimental results on the beam stability issues am shown together with the recent operation status in this report. A beam test on a new scheme of a two-bunch injection was started in order to increase the positron intensity since March, 2001

  • Article: Development of the prospective power transmission model system integrated under superconducting environment-PROMISE
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: A "prospective power transmission model system integrated under superconducting environment", abbreviated to PROMISE, has been constructed to verify the technical possibility of superconducting power transmission for the next generation. PROMISE is composed of a superconducting transformer, a superconducting fault current limiter and superconducting power cable of length 5 m. These three superconducting apparatus are enclosed together in a long scale cryostat to be kept at the liquid helium temperature of 4.2 K. The major insulation is provided by liquid helium. PROMISE withstands an AC voltage of 6 kV for 2 minutes with quite low partial discharge. A voltage-current synthetic test has proved that PROMISE has a transmission capability of 6,000 V-1,000 kVA. The fault current limiter actually limits overcurrent and prevents the other apparatus from quenching. Quench current level coordination is actually realized in PROMISE.

  • Conference Proceeding: Operation, administration and maintenance systems of the optical fiber loop
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The authors discuss the concept of operation, administration, and maintenance (OA&M) systems of the transmission media network in large single-mode (SM) optical fiber loops to be constructed in the next century. The structure of efficient OA&M systems for large-scale networks is described. The optical fiber loop OA&M system has three layers. The functions in these layers are investigated. The characteristics of the optical fiber loop are outlined. The loop has sensors and matrix switches, and it can remotely and automatically be operated, administered, and maintained through a remote switching module, a supervisory module, and an automatic testing module. As the first stage in the introduction of the OA&M systems, the automatic testing system has been developed. This system can realize automatic tests and in-service measurement of optical fibers
