ABSTRACT: Improvements in the accuracy of power-frequency electric and
magnetic field measurements require adequately calibrated instruments.
The systems for the generation of reference electric and magnetic fields
set up at the Istituto Elettrotecnico Nazionale `Galileo Ferraris' (IEN)
are described. A description of the calibration procedures is given,
together with a detailed uncertainty budget. The resulting uncertainty
of the generated fields at the 1σ level is within
1.3×10<sup>-3</sup> for the electric field up to 60 kV/m and
within 6×10<sup>-3</sup> for the magnetic field up to 10 mT
