ABSTRACT: In the present study an Arcanobacterium (Trueperella) bernardiae strain previously isolated from a bacteremia of a patient with a deep soft tissue infection could successfully be identified by MALDI-TOF MS and genotypically by sequencing the RNA polymerase encoding gene rpoB and the 16S-23S rDNA intergenic spacer region. The latter also allowed the design of species specific oligonucleotide primers which could be used for PCR-mediated identification of A.
