ABSTRACT: Resistance to carbapenems among Enterobacteriaceae strains is mostly due to production of various carbapenemases . The molecular class A carbapenemases of KPC family are an important group in various pathogens. These enzymes hydrolyze all beta-lactams and have been well acknowledged among many members of the family Enterobacteriaceae , but rarely reported outside the family Enterobacteriaceae. In this report we discribe a Flavobacterium odoratum isolate from China that produced carbapenem-hydrolyzing enzyme, KPC-2.
