[show abstract][hide abstract] ABSTRACT: In the mol-ecule of the zwitterionic title compound, C(17)H(11)N(3)O, the naphthalene ring system is planar [maximum deviation = 0.029 (3) Å] and is oriented at a dihedral angle of 3.55 (3)° with respect to the benzene ring. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond results in the formation of a planar six-membered ring. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers.

The dihedral angle between the planes of the two benzene rings is 50.96 (11)° and a strong intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond is present. An inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-action stabilizes the crystal structure.
[show abstract][hide abstract] ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(4)H(12)NO(3) (+)·C(2)HCl(2)O(2) (-), was obtained from dichloro-acetic acid and 2-amino-2-(hydroxy-meth-yl)propane-1,3-diol. In the crystal structure, the cations and anions are connected by inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, forming a two-dimensional array parallel to (001). The crystal used for analysis was a merohedral twin, as indicated by the Flack parameter of 0.67 (6).
